2016 Cx5 does not have all the luxuries of a 2016 Mazda 6. The ride of Mazda 6 is that of a luxurious car, more options. So those of you who deciding between and 6 and cx5 I recommend a mazda 6. Now ofcourse if u want a SUV its a different story.

I had an apple this morning, but as soon as I took a bite of the apple I realized I wanted an orange.

You can mix the apple and orange in a blender and get a little bit of both.

in defense of the cx-5, it does better in crash tests , also you sit higher up,its a safer car overall...and of course its an suv so its got better off road capabilities.

I don't understand. Did you not test drive both models? Why did you get the CX-5 if you already regret it?

It's somewhat bizarre to me that the two are cross shopped. But, seems quite typical that they are.

I don't feel that there's a huge gap between the two, in regards to amenities, fit and finish, or even feel. I just find that one, judging by appearance, looks like a family hauler, and the other has much more business-like appeal, purposed to haul clients to lunch or something.

I'll tell you this...if you're hauling a family around, need the additional cargo space, the taller ride height/ground clearance, and the nice, wide opening a hatch has to offer, there's no comparison. And if you never needed any of these features, why was it even a comparison?

You recommend a Mazda6 unless of course someone wants an SUV? That's helpful!

Why are you wishing? Do you have a genie? Go take the car back, pay the difference and get a Mazda6.

I want one of each. The Mazda 6 is a much better car if you do a lot of Interstate driving at higher speeds due to it's vastly superior aerodynamics. But I couldn't go to almost half of my back-country destinations in a Mazda 6 (and I'm no stranger to using a sedan on seldom maintained mountain roads).

I would have one of each if not for the fact that I'm short on parking space and even shorter on covered parking. Plus, I already have 7 vehicles to license and insure. But, no doubt, the 6 is a sweet little sedan.

Good news: I just purchased a permanent license for my 1985 Ducati Mille S2 (I registered it as a classic). Never have to buy tabs again! It's a rare beauty with total production (all years) of only 172 units.

It has the original black lacquer paint, while beautiful, it has nowhere near the toughness of the paint on our CX-5's.

Now, why did I post motorcycle pictures in a thread about "I regret not getting a Mazda 6"? You see, the Mille S2 is a big fast bike for covering big miles efficiently at higher speeds. The next photo is a general purpose bike, a DR650 capable of tackling rough roads, at home on city and suburban streets but not optimized for eating up big miles on fast highways (regardless of the fact that it could scream along at 100 mph all day long). The first bike likes high speeds, the DR650, not so much. Much like the Mazda 6 vs. CX-5:

If I could only have one motorcycle it would be a very tough choice. But I would have to take the DR650 because it's the generalist. And that's why I have a CX-5 instead of a Mazda 6. However, IMO, a Mazda 6 is a better fit for many CX-5 owners.

I also had a hard time deciding between the 6 and the cx-5. The 6 I can get the 2.5 engine with the manual transmission. On the Cx-5 I had to get the 2.0. But at least it keeps me out of trouble and is still fun to drive. But it came down to what fits in the garage. My stop post to garage door measures 191 inches. The 6 is 191 inches long. Could I get the door closed, maybe, maybe no. So I got the cx-5. I am very happy with it.

If the 6 had AWD, I would have gotten it. If it was sold in wagon configuration too, I'd be a happy man.
While I never driven one, I am sure it is much more fun with equal or better ride quality.

Just curious but why do you need AWD in San Jose, CA?
