I still have my steelies, but i too would like to upgrade to some new rims. Im trying to get a hold of a resonable price set of p5 rims within driving distance.

Don't waste your time. I've been trying for MONTHS now and have had 0 luck. For me it's almost as cheap to just get brand new rims and tires all mounted and balanced from tires.com instead of beat myself up trying to find P5 rims on here. I'm ordering a set off of tires.com tonight or tomorrow. 100 US dollars per 16" rim. Hopefully they'll work like tires.com claims they will.

For anyone interested

I acquired a set of Mazda OE 15" 929 alloy wheels awhile ago. Never mounted any tires on them (have been sitting in my basement since I got them.) I don't know what year 929 they're from, but they are 5x144.3mm bolt pattern.

If anyone is interested in buying them for $220 shipped (to recoupe my initial cost,) I'd be willing to sell them. I'm going to run my OE stock P5 16's this winter, so I'll help a brother out here if possible. ;) I can take nice pics as well.

Just post here, or PM me.

Thanks

I just picked up a set of '92 929 wheels myself for 180$ shipped from a fellow board member. =) I'd suggest getting those, as they're reasonably attractive, and cheap, usually. =) I'm getting the ones I get painted bronze.

Alright...for those that haven't been in a snow storm with the MSP tires, it really sucks ass!! In February, it took me over 8 hours to drive 19 nerve racking miles, and every slight incline took about 3000 miles off my engine (running 4000 rpm in 3rd gear to crawl at ~ 2 mph). Unfortunately, I got pelted several times by passing salt trucks! Sounds like a damn machine gun (ouch, my new paint!).

Anyway, I was wondering, if I went to the junk yard, would some older protege steel rims fit the MSP? I'd like to go steel, just because junk yards will try to **** me if I go to buy alloys. I'm guessing from what I've read that the 5 x 144 is the right bolt pattern for the MSP? Money is REALLY tight, so the junkyard is the best option for me. Let me know what you think....thanks.

5 x 114.3mm bolt pattern. Any Protege wheel with this pattern will fit (I think 15" diameter minimum for brake caliper clearence.)

Mackdaddy - are you absolutely sure it's 5x114.3mm?

I'm not going with steelies after all, but instead these cheap American Racing wheels (in a 15"):
