? Windshield mesh: Installing dashcam 2014 Mazda3 is it ok?

We bought a dashcam and it needs to be professionally installed.

The optimal position seems to be above the rearview mirror, but the mount would have to be affixed to the bumpy rough windshield mesh on the glass. I imagine that material is for the rain sensor?

Before we go ahead with the installation, I was wondering if installing the mount on the above material would somehow interfere with the sensors et al?

I had issues with mounting a dashcam in front of the rearview mirror using a suction cup on that mesh material. It just will not stay on so I used 3M mounting tapes to force it to stay.

that mesh is there only as an additional sun shade
seriously? are you sure about that? why isn't the window extra tinted on the top from left to righ if it is an additional sunshade? and if that's not the rain sensor, then where is located?

when you filp down your visors, there is a dead spot above the mirror. that's why the window has the texture dots.

as for the rain sensor:

No. Sensor is enclosed in the plastic case.

Dang. I always thought that mesh on the windshield was for the rain sensor, not as a sunvisor.

However, the installers did a pretty good job in installing the cam. We also have a rear dash cam as well. We got the Lukas 9500 duo: https://dgtlsystems.com/product/lukas-lk-9500-duo/. One thing we found out was that rear window defogger doesn't defogg the entire windshield. We thought the installers did something with the wiring. Our 3 has the antenna built into the windshield and the first 5 lines is the antenna so it won't defrost. I wish we got an external antenna, preferably sharkfin type, but only the GT with tech package has it from what I seen.
