So i was driving in a freeway when this car im following changed lane & an "object" flew in front of me.. and my windshield sustained a crack (sad1) it started as a 2 inch crack now it extended to almost a foot long...

I've contacted my dealer on this and ordered the part (this event happened a month ago) upto now its still on back order.. The said windshield will still be shipped from Tokyo Japan! (rant)

I've tried other glass shops, unfortunately our vehicle is still brand new and they dont have it yet... Also it could not be repaired anymore because of the length of the crack..

Any suggestions? its a pain to watch the crack lengthen everytime i drive.. :(

thats not true, varies by state, like in mass yess - in RI no.

there is a compound not sure if u can buy it or need AAA to do it, ive had mine done before, but i believe it either gets squirted it into the ends of the crack or it may be some sort of zapping thing and it should prevent it from spreading or getting worse.

Your insurance covers it for free.....call them up. At least my insurance did on my truck.

My insurance suggested a few glass shops but unfortunately they dont carry it yet (as far as Houston TX is concerned)

Guess i just have to wait from the dealer till it arrives, anyway thanks for the replies..

Have you had your windshield replaced?

I am in a similar situation, though there is only a little chip in the windshield. The glass technician suggests that I just repair the chip, and says that it is likely that something might go wrong when replacing the glass. How do you guys think?

Thanks.

I had it repaired for the meantime to prevent it from further lengthening.. still waiting for the replacement.. (bang)

Hi, there. FYI, I finally got the glass shipped from CA and had it installed by a local auto glass company. Looks great. Didn't take it to highway for a real test drive though, will wait a couple of days.
