window tinting, etc - in TORONTO

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone in the Toronto area could recommend a quality shop to get window tinting done? I am asking for a friend who is also interested in getting some of the 3M clear protective film to protect the most vulnerable areas of the paint too. Thanks in advance!!

First off, join the Toronto Protege Club board: www.toprotege.com. They have a club discount with FX Auto in Markham. They use high quality tint warrantied for life against bubbles, fading, yada yada. They are very professional and do an amazing job. The cost is $250 CAD. You can get more info in the club discount section of the Toronto board. They may also do protective film but I am not sure.

Just remember you get what you pay for. I did alot of research and found that FX Auto uses a higher quality tint than most other places. Also at FX the tint is all cut by computer so they exact cuts that fit perfectly for your car. Also you have to make sure that they only use one piece to tint your back window. Some places uses two pieces and then you end up seeing a gap through the middle of your window. And make sure the guy that is doing your car has been doing tint for at least 5 years. It is amazing the crappy job you can get from newbie tint installers. If you are just going to shop around for the cheapest price then you may just endup with cheap tint and bad install. Research, research, research!

I have found over the years that I am willing to pay a little more for quality - so price is not that much of a concern.

Just see how many windows are being done as well... and while they are at it.. they can put the clear stuff on your fog lights so they dont break or chip... you dont need them on your headlights... that stuff is not glass and VERY strong.

They cannot put the legeslation in later then expect people who already have their car tinted before the legislation went through to pay money to remove their tint.
