Window Tint Question

Does anyone know the % tint that the CX-7 rear / hatch windows come OEM?

I was thinking about re-doing the entire car (front / rear / hatch) with a darker tint.

btw, any recommendations for a quality film?

I asked that same question (OEM tint %) a while ago. I never got a response. Maybe somebody knows by now.

Do a search. I had the same question and found it here as well. Pretty close match to the rears

I did the front windows, two little mini front windows and a strip along the top of the windshield all in 20%

Seemed to match pretty darn close.

Cool...but limo up front is uber illegal in most states...if not all states.

Only if you get caught, Owned it since November 3rd and took delivery of it after it was tinted never had an issue other than a speeding ticket never for tint and it is illegal up here BTW.

Most factory tint ranges from 18 to 20%.

It that's true then my car is illegal from the factory. In WI you are allowed 50% on the fronts and 35% on the rears.

I have a hard time believing they would allow a car to be sold that isn't street legal.

the standard Factory tint is 20% i have never heard of places where they tell you what you can have on the back

For the US you can check the laws here:
http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/

Wisconsin law is:
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 50% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 35% of light in.

There are quite a few states that limit rear window tint (maybe even most states).

I don't know about the laws in Canada.

Here is None on the side fronts and anything on the doors behind the driver and back windows its a lovely thing for a guy like me that wants privacy in my vehicle.

PS: Not a drug dealer or anything shady just i use my vehicles a lot and hate to much light.

check with the laws, some states allow for a medical exemption. you'll need to carry around a letter from your eye doctor (hopefully they'll write you one if don't actually have a condition) that your eyes are very sensitive to light and glare.

recently got my cx 10% all around...2 days later cop pulled me over ;( ... he just gave me a warning though..

I believe its 20% rear. My wife had hers done at 35% front (to stay legal) even though I wanted darker. My old car had 5% and that was awful. 20% all around is perfect.
