Wind Noise!

Hey, new to this because I am new to owning a Protege 5!
Just bought it 2 weeks ago and love it except there seems to be an awful lot of wind noise (theres no luggage rack so it's not that) especially from the passenger side window/door. Anyone else encounter this or have a remmedy for it?

When I got mine I noticed a lot of noise from the hatch area from wind and rain, but you get used to it. If your noticing something around one of the passenger doors you might want to get it checked out. You need to make sure that it's sealing like it should.

Welcome to the board! I hope you enjoy your new P5 - what color did you get?

As far as wind noise it's usually caused by the luggage rack but since you don't have one I'd check back w/your dealer to see if there isn't any kind of leak going on there. Good luck! :D

hey, thanks guys!
I got the "classic red". I've always liked the Protege 5 much more then the Matrix or Vibe, I had an MX-3 that had 177,000 miles on it with almost all original equipment, the heat and AC stopped working and it was just time to get a new car.
It seems to me that the passenger window doesn't seal all the way, I should take it to the dealer!

i got a little wind noise from mine at first but i think i just got used to it. solution, bigger, louder stereo.
anyway, welcome to the board.

i have that problem too. my friends who ride in the passenger seat say they hear it a lot. i cant hear it on the driver's side but if the noise is there regardless whether i hear it or not, it's still a problem. so i'll have that checked.
hope you're enjoying your new p5!

i have that problem too and was just thinking about it today when i herd it. but i have no clue what it isso i just turn up the radio.

Holy Crap.. I have alot of noise on my passenger side area. Someone broke into my car on that side and had the window replaced but not retinted and I can hear it even more..like there is a leak..I'll have to check with the dealership..maybe get a test drive..oops test ride so I can observe the problem.

I think the car is just inherently noisy. Every review I have ever read lists "wind/road noise" as one of the weak points of the car. I don't notice it as much anymore, but I had been driving my wife's Jetta for a week or so and I drove my car the other day and I thought one of the windows was open a crack, or one of the doors was ajar. Removing the roof rack helps, and closing the sunroof shade helps, but other than that I think you would need to replace all the window and door seals.

I don't see any wind noise from the passenger side, but it seems like everywhere...this car had so much wind noise when going at 120 km...

IT'S THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE!

It is a problem with the sedan as well...There is really nothing you can do about it.
