Will AP fix the boost limiting issue in 1st and 2nd?

i have the stanback and set at 18psi i get 15psi in first and 16psi in second and thrid and then 18 after that. I love the higher boost in the lower gears its flat awsome, to me definate improvement over stock i love ripping through 1st and second with the additional boost

Powerslave, On the street, how does the car drive out of the hole with all of that boost?

Red, thanks, would appreciate anything you find out about the tuning.

yeah ive noticed with the 235/40/18 my traction is really improved. the steering doesn't feel as light but the traction is way up. they should have built our cars with 235 or higher to help with traction... more patch more grip

yeha its now sheduled for feb 15. i'll keep you guys updated! if i make enough money between now and the i want to get the upgraded intercooler like laloosh and then shoot for maybe 20-21 psi..

So I talked to the guys and they said that you have to get different software per vehicle so there is a different one for the STi or WRX or Legacy GT, EVO etc... and you will have to wait for the software to be released for the Mazdaspeed3 so that does kind of suck but I kind of knew that for a while now.

Thanks Red. ill tune it my damn self when the software become avail. So whats the dealio on the PROcede? Shoot me a pm :)

mazda had to slide this car through government regs and emissions etc. I really believe that mazda knows full well its potential. The rest is up to us. Do you feel 235 is enough as a road tire?

How do you get traction? Thats alot more h.p. mine's near to stock and destroys 1 and 2 But i'm on oems still

Not to mention a wider tire will hurt gas mileage some. I use 225/40s on the street and will leave the wider ones for competition. With those tires on a trip into PA I got 359 miles on 12.2 gallons of gas with speeds between 60-75 MPH (29.4 MPG). Around where I live using a mix of driving that has 90 mile round trip for work I get around 24 MPG average.

Don't know much about how this stuff works, but instead of a MAP clamp or other methods, will the AP have the ability to fix this issue? Or even to turn up boost overall (I see some people are safely using boost controllers) a bit?

Alot of the information that I'm hearing is that COBB doesn't even know how to read the information on the ECU. They don't change EVERYTHING when they remap your ECU, alot of the information is the same and they just change a few peramiters. Just a heads up though, our CPU's in the ECU's can only handle up to a max of around 150 flashes. That is an estimate by mazda, so some might handle less and some might handle more. For most people that will never be an issue, but I don't like that. Anyway, I'm not a fan of COBB, I think they try to work on the Speed3 like they do with EVO's and STI's and they can't. Its a different animal. I'm so happy I found CP-E.

Thats not true. The Cobb MS3 has had over 500 flashs. My car has been flashed over 200x. The AP has full control of everything. I have seen the editing software and the tables they have the ability to edit. There are pages of them.

What a cpe fanboy. Way to spread mis information.

Why would it only handle so many flashes? Does flashing put undue stress on the CPU? When I had my Hondata ECU in my RSX, I flashed it quite a bit. With the option of street tuning, I was able to pull over, shut the car down and flash a new map right then and there.

The type of memory the ECU uses in the Mazdaspeed3 gets maxed out. There is a max on the amout of flashes and once you run out, you are buying a new ECU for thousands. Don't believe the people that say they have reflashed their cars hundreds of times, it's misleading information and they try to make themselves look happy about getting the AP. Cobb themselves have even said we do not have full control over everything, and that is their own claims. Also, the dyno's speak for themselves, the AP has YET to hit anywhere near their claims.

I was a fan of COBB, and don't get me wrong, if I had a subie or an EVO, COBB would be close to the top of the list, but after seeing the crap that they put out for the Mazdaspeed3, I needed to find another company ( the FMIC looks like its home made!!) If COBB put out a great product, of course I would look at buying it, but time after time, they have greatly disappointed me, and besides a few COBB fanboys, there are others that have been greatly disappointed by COBB too. So I'm not alone

Wow. Just wow. Seeing this level of misinformation just makes my head hurt. Per the manufacturer's documentation, the eeproms will last a minimum of 100 flashes, which is a pretty standard value for automotive ecus. It's not like there is a counter built into the chip that makes them unable to accept a new flash once you get to 101, most ecus are able to far exceed this "limit." Many re-flash tuners have flashed some ecus literally thousands of times with no ill effects. If it was so bad, then why does CP-E also perform flashing? Do you mean to tell me that during their testing, they manage to get their flashing process perfect within a couple of tries?

I would love to see where Cobb said this. Every post I've seen by anyone from Cobb about their level of ECU control directly contradicts your statement.

I was a fan of COBB

A fanboy is a fanboy. It doesn't matter what brand, fanboys negatively affect everyone they get involved with. Cobb is fortunate to no longer have your support, and I hope for their sake that someday CP-E is just as lucky.
