will 205/50R16 fit on stock P5 rims?

Damn (upyours)

This is the most important thing to do with your car...change the tires
And in my case...215/45ZR16 Dunlop Direzza DZ101 is heaven

Fits lovely on the rim no bubble and sidewall sludge or anything...see it on the side...they look like stock...but from front or rear...they are a bit wider...and the traction oh boy I will wait until ive put 200-300 km on them before going crazy but for now they are sticky, comfy and soo beautiful.

I dont know if ALL the tires in 215/45 fits our rims (2003) but those are incredible :D

Pictures are here ----> http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2632795/2

That's funny. I have the same tire in a 205/45/16 and can't stand them. The tire is sticky enough for going forward, but the sidewall flexes too much for the type of cornering that I do on the mountain. I can't burn up my Direzza's fast enough so I can go back to the Yok. AVS ES100.

Yeah they have a bit too much flex but hey...compare to the dunlop sp5000M that I had before and my $$$ I had to spend....they're enough for me

If im going to win lotto and buy a murcielago, I would not choose these tires...and I would buy a extinguisher :D

well if yon need more stiffness, raise the psi.. sure you lose a little grip, but control is speed.. road conditions etc vary and can make or break the PSI thing working for you.. but a smooth road is great and you can add on the PSI the stiffen up the tires for more response and less flex, etc... i some times will run 60 PSI in the rear tires and 50 in the fronts, = fast turn in, razor handling, snappy car, super responsive.. or 32-42 front and 40-48 rear= hella grip, smooth ride, smooth slow break away, more forgiving to errors,,, but can be sluggish, heavy steering feel, sloppy response, or elastic response-witch is very unpredictable.. this varys with driver, car setup, conditions and THE tire that your running....put a s*** load of air in your tires and go play,, slowly remove air till you find your sweet spot.. its help to run the same thing over and over with this, so you can make a good judgment with this.. so #1 twistys #2 aired up tires-50-60 psi 3# tire pressure gauge..some tires need a huge PSI change to feel the affects, so mabey do some runs at 50psi and drop it down to 30 psi and run it.. this most likly will not be your sweet spot, but should help you find and feel both sides of the spectrum....oh and the MOST important thing is to have fun and be safe

tires are rated at max 51 psi and they are presently inflated at 36...but Ill be trying other pressions :P

I'm not a fan of dunlop after the stock were so sucky. and what tires do you have that you can inflate them to 60 psi? the Khumo ecsta spt is max 51 psi. I usually keep 'em btw 45-50psi

wow - you should NEVER inflate your tires even close to the max rating on the side wall. the highest i would ever go would be 40psi, since stock reccomended is 32psi. if you inflate your to neer max on the sidewall, as you heat them up the pressure is going to go above the max, then your driving around on over-inflated tires, which is not good.

no, I check the pressure when the tires are hot (aprox. 30 miles). So its not over inflated. and I hate it when I get my car back from sears and the tires are at 30psi. pick up is super slow and handling is no fun, and I need all the pick up I can get in an auto.

Varying the tire pressure is for fine tuning the handling characteristics. Big handling changes should be done through springs/struts/sways/alignment.

P5inMD, Dunlop ....they make crappy tires....and they make these tires (Direzza) for JGTC in japan.... I don't think it's a crappy tire :P

well yes ther is a recommended tire pressure for each tire make.. the azenis are rated to 51psi and yes it not a great idea to overly exceed that.. but i used to run 55-60 psi in 14" 195-55 tire back in the days to keep the from flexing all over the place...13 years ago we didnt have almost any sport tires with stiff sidewalls in small sizes, 17 or bigger.. iv never had a problem, iand i always ran them down to cords.. granted this isnt a great idea, but tires will be fine if you dont over do it...and joshp5 is right..im just tring to help those get the most out of ther tires.. want they have how..

Sorry guys had to use this one vs adding another one... need input on the following if possible:

18 x 7.5 (+40) pattern 5-114.3 ? w/ 215 / 40 / 18 rubber ? on eibach Pro Kit?

you need +48mm offset and 35 series tires

So, I need to replace my tires soon, and I want to go the 215 on stockers route...I've been doing some research, and I want to go with a soft, all-season, hi-performance tire, but 215/45/16 really limits my choices in that area (to practically none). I have a lot of choices in the 215/55/16 range, but I am curious if: 1) The extra sidewall flex would negate my traction gains 2) I would have fender rub because of increased height or width 3) I could do all of this without "rolling the fenders." Here are the numbers I've crunched so far:

--------------------205/50/16-------215/45/16------215/55/16
Rim Width Range........5.5-7.5...............7-8.................6-7.5
Meas. Rim Width...........6.5...................7...................6.5-7
Section Width............8.1-8.4...............8.5..................8.9
Tread Width..............6.5-7.2...............7.9.................7-7.5
Overall Diameter...........24.1................23.6.................25.3

The 205/50/16 is what I (and many) currently have, the 215/45s are the Direzzas many have had good luck with, and the 215/55 is the size that has the selection I want. Thanks to the Tire Rack for the numbers...let me know what you guys think!

yeah, but, its almost a full 2-inches taller than stock size - i would be real surprised if they even fit in the wheel well without rubbing on something

Don't bother with that other crap, just stick with 205/50s--get some Falken 512s or try the new 912s.
