Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

Symptoms:

Clicking noises... when I go to turn the key. Car wont turn over. The lights on the dash work... Went to jump start the battery.. but the charger says the battery has full power.

no I tried that. No luck. AAA Is coming to check out the car... but I called Vic (Dr.Sound) and he said he thought it was electrical.. the horn on my car started going off when I was messing around with s***.

sounds like the flux capacitor is on the fritz .... might want to throw a few banana peels into Mr. Fusion

this happend to my last msp a few times. If the car doesn't even turn, Unlock and lock the alarm a few times. Its most likely the alarm giving problems.

Yeah, this happened to me a few times when disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Good luck.

Yea I would try locking it and unlocking it....kinda sounds like the alarm......also try to reset the ecu.....

I had a similar problems with my old integra. I would'nt start sometimes, the door locks would flicker between lock and unlock pos. The s*** wouldn't even let me out sometimes. I think she didn't like black people. I couldn't leave my keys in the car ever cuz if i did, the second i turn my back the doors would lock by themselves. Anway the way i fixed it was that pulled out the alarm box, took that beotch to a dealer and traded it in for my MSP. Now my alarm works fine.

If the car clicks and the lights work then the battery is fine. Also, that typcily means the alternator is fine since it properly charged the battery the last time the car was on. Not to mention, you can remove the alternator and the car will still start and run until the battery dies.

It might be the alarm. There are 2 ways to wire a starter interupt inside of an alarm or with an external relay. One is normaly open which means that if the alarm is not happy, then the starter wire is disconnected. This sucks if the alarm dies becuase that wire will never pass power until the alarm is fixed, replaced or removed. The other way is to have it wired normaly closed, which means so long as the alarm is not pissed, the car will start. So essentialy, the alarm must be going off to stop the car from starting so even if the alarm dies, the car still starts.

This brings us to what was clicking. If it was a realy under the dash, and the starter itself under the hood, then the alarm may be FUBR. If the clicking is from anything other then a relay for or within the alarm, then the alarm is not the issue. At that point it is either that the starter is dead, the spark plugs aren't firing, or you are not getting fuel to the engine.

Close all doors, close hood and trunk, arm alarm, disarm alarm, arm/disarm again for good measure, open door, start car. Should work if your alarm isn't dead.

I had that same problem in my msp, and in my friends. It was something to do with the alarm, like a few people said. Just lock, arm, unlock make sure everything is closed. Its weird but its a common problem with some msp's.

I had this problem too. It was the alarm. I locked it and unlocked it a few times and it worked.
