Why don't YOU take it to the track?

I dont go to tracks because, uhh, well the closest one from me is about a 2 hour drive just to auto-x. I can go across town to an industrial park that makes a beautiful racetrack and drive "spiritedly" there. I really dont care about drag racing. The way that I see it is you dont know how to drive your car if all you know how to do is drag race. It really pisses me off when these GD retards in their Ponitcraps think that they have a good car and they know how to drive cause they can drive fast in a straight line. All my friends even think that they are good drivers because they can drive fast going straight. They know nothing about racing lines, apexes (sp?), or anything about road racing for that matter.

Rant complete:)

I just moved here with my wife, but the scene where we were was pretty wild. I don't race on the street except maybe stoplight to stoplight once in a while, but I know why the people do. My little brother owns a small speed shop and he mostly runs at the local 1/8th mile track but he constantly has people messing with him on the street because they know he builds/drives fast cars. It's like they're trying to prove something if they can beat him. I've seen these kids get so angry when my brother won't race them that they start doing whatever they can to make him race. It's F* up sometimes. He used to run on the street alot, but he's totalled(sp?) like half a dozen cars because of stupid stuff like that. He wouldn't listen to anyone and he learned the hard way, he's still got his license (barely) and his insurance is insane! It's really not worth it, even if you know how to drive that doesn't say anything for the idiot in the lane next to you.

i do race at the 1/4 mile track. not auto x yet but with this car i will soon after it is done. i build it with this much power FOR the track. it wouldnt be worth it if i only drove on the street.
ben there and it gets expensive racing on the street. not really the street but the highway. damn motor vehicle insurance surcharges.:(

me personally i don' street race...the pro/con is unbalanced in my eyes...if i get busted or worse (crash) then those moments of fun on the street go down the drain...i think what sets most people off is that i'm better then you attitude and i have to prove it (for guys all we have to do is look down when we're pissing and i think that more then explains it)...

also, i think that track racing seems to be more for those who are really into true motorsports...i go to the track sometimes, used to race go karts (still do but for fun) and most of the people there that i talk to are real motorists meaning they know what they're talking about...don't try to talk a lot of crap...are respectful both when racing and off the track...i don't really see too much of that in the people on the street...most enthusiasts would say that yes it's expensive but it's a hobby/sport that's worth it...i have no problem dropping some money to race cuz i love it...

oh yeah...street racing is bad!

me and friends will go to back roads on special occasions i.e. someone gets new ride or mod. thats about it. never go past 120 as a rule. as for other people on the road, if uve ever been near lubbock, u would understand. so flat u cant even believe it, can see something coming from 5 miles < im serious> and were we go its straigh road, no intersections, no houses, no nothing. when it comes to people street racing on the high ways of major metro areas. flat out dumb. most of them are asses too.

My take is

track/autoX racers = real motorsport enthusiasts

street racers = perceived coolness+macho s**t+pumped up ego

:D :D

Well .. I haven't been to the track. But I do take it to the parking lot .. lol. ;)

Have to pay off the wheels & r-compounds for autocross this year. Doing 2 series in Ontario. Maybe some lapping days near the end of the season if there is money left over.

Next year ... Solo 1! =)

I'm just waiting for some fellow mazda owners to roll out to Sac. raceway with me...hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge :)
