Why a Turbo Timer?

Jesus people how lazy can you be to sit in your car and maybe let it idle for a min? Never have never will spend money on a turbo timer, something I can do myself. My turbo timer is the last mile home drive normal pull into the parking space, idle for 30 secs and shut off. If you do get a turbo timer, don't set it too long or you risk heat soak.

funny story about turbo timers.

i just talked to a buddy with an 87' i think TII. all he did was park teh car and set the timer for about 5 minutes and run into the bank. he knew he had a pin hole leak sized leak in one of his turbo lines. by the time he got back there was a huge pool of coolant under his car and his temp gauge had sky rocketed into the red. and that my friends on any car is bad but on a rotary is like cancer=the leading cause of death to those cars. he knows for sure last time i talked to him his rad was shot but wasn't sure about the engine. may have blown a seal with his little turbo timer incident:eek:

Thanks All

Looks like I'll just skip the TT. I never had one on my turbo mustang, and drove the crap out of it all the time. 200k mile motor and water cooled t-3 and never had any problems. Course, that was a Ford motor built specifically for turbocharging by the factory.

I just didn't understand the reason so many people where running TT with these cars. The group I came from, no one ran a TT and everyone raced the hell out of thier cars.

I checked last night, figured our t-25 was water cooled and it is. And they did a very nice job at plumbing the thing btw. So I'm sure some easy driving before parking or sitting in the hot rod listening to Audioslave's "Like a Stone" will do the trick.

Thanks again for the input all.

i was glad i had a turbo timer today...

i was running late for class, ran the piss out of my MSP to get there just in time, and didnt have to sit in the car and make myself late. so...whatever...it looks cool too.
i dont really care if i need it or not, i like it :D

most of the time there isn't a need to do more than a 30 secs....anything over that is overkill. you might have a incident like jeckel's friend. i know my friends car caught on fire when he let his sit for 5 mins cause a oil line burst and caught on fire.

5 mins is definetly overkill
after running hard mine sits for 40 seconds to a minute. i mostly bought mine because i like the timing functions and s***
