besides protection and personal vendetta, what can i use a handgun for? i've always had good hand-eye coordination and pretty accurate/precise aim with bb guns etc, although i know it's not the same thing. i used the bb gun to shoot rodents in the backyard etc, i don't think i can use a handgun for the same purpose. is it pretty much shooting ranges etc? i don't really have forests near me

I enjoy the Springfield XD's, however they all seem to eject rounds onto my head. Annoys the hell out of me, especially at a range with big stall blinds. I'm more of a classic guy, I stand by my 5" Kimber 1911.

I did read the thread. And as a firearm owner and marksman I would suggest and practice cleaning your firearm after every use or when the chance is available. I wouldn't like to take the chance of my firearm jamming because of carbon buildup and poor maintanence when and if you need it.

Are you serious? I've been shooting for over a decade, thanks, I think I know how to operate and maintain firearms. I mean it's like you don't know how to perceive sarcasm or something. Especially since I mentioned how much I loathe cleaning my AR's several times. I have a complete reloading station downstairs with a rack of jag's and cleaning solutions. Anytime I come in from shooting or IDPA events, I tear down everything.

And reloads, maybe you can answer me this, my kimber will not fire reloads for some reason. The round does not feed correctly and the body jams in between the action and bore. I've had that problem in the past. .45 ACP is a tricky cartridge to reload. For most other rounds you can crimp and seat simultaneously on generic dies. For most dies you have to seat it completely first, then crimp. You could also get the .45 ACP Lee dies that taper crimps and resizes all in one step. Thats what I use personally. Another suggestion is to make sure you are using good brass. Kimber's are very temperamental with reloaded range brass.
