Who has a Protege Sedan w/ MP3/MSP KIT??

I have a '01 Sedan ES, I'm looking to get a mp3/msp kit for my car. I just wanted to see who had one and could they post some pics.

Some details would help: install, costs, part numbers.

i know you were looking to do the mp3/msp conversion but in my opinion wouldn't the wings west kit be a better choice. now that they have a direct-fit bumper for non-mp3 sedans everything would just bolt on and you wouldn't have to spend money on the extra parts needed for the mp3 conversion. once again this is just my opinion and the easier and better looking way to "convert" your ES. mitch at protege5online is selling the 4-piece kit for $765 shipped if you want to compare the total prices of both. hope this helps, if not , just erase it. peace

Body Kit

I saw your other post. I think were both thinking about doing the same thing. That's a pretty good price for the wings west kit (I'm not sure if I like the wings on the front bumper though). Did he give you a price for the mp3/msp one? I PM'd him about an hour ago.

Sounds like your leaning towards the wings west. What else do you need for the conversion and how much do you think it costs?

i'm not sure how much the actual bumper costs but i know that you need the rebar, fender linings, and foglights. i wasn't going to actually do the mp3 conversion but get the lower front lip, sideskirts, and rear bumper but when i heard wings west was coming out with the bumper they jumped to the top of my list. plus i haven't seen a white pro with it done yet so i hope to be the first. peace

Wings West

Is the wings west kit out yet? The website is not clear about "01-03 PROTG MPS FRONT BUMPER COVER".

What does MPS mean?

Any idea if they come with fogs. A bolt on would be very nice.

the ones for non-mp3 sedans are the two at the bottom. notice the two on the top say **mp3 only** and also the two on the bottom have different part #'s. i don't think the kit comes with the fogs but i heard that wings west sells them, but not sure. they are not a priority for me so i haven't looked into price. hopefully i'll have it on by the end of the summer so keep your fingers crossed. oh yeah, the bumper came out about 2-3 weeks ago.

I just sent an email for more information at west wings about the kit.

Are you going to go through west wings (they can paint it also) or through the mazda forum?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to do the full kit or just front bumper .

CRUZER on this site has done the conversion to his silver protege. there are weird brackets around his name, so if you go to search and search user partial name, you should be able to find him.

personally, i don't like the wings west kit because of, well, the wings. i think it makes the car look like it's about to take flight with those two wings down by the front wheel well.

MPS = Mazda Performance Series

MPS was the code for the MP3 before it was called the MP3. in the stock parts catalogs, MP3 parts are designated "MPS" and P5 and ES parts are designated "sports suspension."

I was thinking of the Wings West also. I wasn't too crazy about it's "wings" on the skirts and front cover so I did the MP3 conversion. Since this pic was taken I've installed the rear valance but haven't taken any pics with it yet./members/1garnetredlx/dsc00116.jpg

Here I am... I've done the conversion.... I've done an almost
complete conversion with the exception of seats, steering wheel,
wing and stereo (but I might be getting the msp setup with sub.)
I got everything else.. even the silver cup holder. ES
was orginally just black. If you want part # and so forth just PM
me I don't want to get some OG MP3 people all in a hissy fit.

Cruzer- Do you have the satin emblems? If not you should get them. I think they would look tight ass hell on a silver car.

Finally! Someone else posted a little more help for me too. I've been trying to get ahold of those people at that R&D place, but they havent PM'd me back. I want to get the front bumper assembly(with out the fogs), side skirts, rear valance, and possibly the wing... but I don't know who to ask. I am looking to do this as soon as I can. But like I said I'm not too sure where to start? Does anyone else know of other places I can get all this stuff from? and will they know what I'm talking about? thanks.

I'm going to be posting all of the info on the conversion probably tomorrow.(part#'s, installation process,etc) Where in IL do you live? Are you close to WI? I may be able to help you out.

eh.. I live in Champaign.. Its about 200 Miles from Chicago. so it depends on how far away from the IL/WI border you are, but yeah Id love any help I could get! and thanks, I'll be checking back tomorrow for sure!

however, if it was worth it, Id be happy to drive up there to get some good stuff.... like say a 2003.5 front lip....
my dealership is way behind on parts.... so I've given up on them pretty much... but either way.. I just want to get all the MSP/MP3 stuff taken care of soon... then I'll be happy with the body...
