Who gots the most WHP N/A Protege?

Finally found my printouts again. I still don't have a scanner though.

Mustang Dyno

125 WHP...126 ft-lbs Torque

Peak HP was at about 5800 rpm
Peak TQ was around 4000 rpm

My curves look pretty good. I made above 117 ft-lbs TQ from 3200-5400rpm and over 117 WHP from 5100-redline.

From the looks of things I need a set of cam gears bad.

SR Motorsports... they are pricey but you will be satisfied. They are HUGE compared to stock

in other words. The SRMotorsports are the best cams and cam gears available now for the car ? if so ill buy them...

I think they might be the only cam gears currently available for our cars. I could be wrong though.

Damn, I want 130whp! Hell, I'll take 120whp.

Tripoint used to have some available...They were pretty expensive though...

Also what happened with MAM? I have not ventured out of the NA forum for a while, and I know there were some money issues...but I heard they will be back around soon...They had a set under development over the summer and the price seemed good...

I'd say you would gain an EASY 20whp with the cams/cam gears tuned. It would probably be more but i know for sure at least 20whp, as I got just 9 from the cam gears.

I don't know about the best.. i'm sure there are tones of debates over it.

i dont know but i dont think they will ever come back around seeing they oww people a ridiculous amount of money...... the only way i can see them coming back is if they made it right with everyone they have screwed out of money and parts..

MAM is no more...bad situation there. The SR cam gears are all that I know of currently but I wouldn't order from them. If you get them, get them at Corksport.

Why not order from SR Motorsports... they did me good on products and fast shipping (first)

That's good to hear then. I have read a few horror stories about their service and deceitful ways.(glare)

Well my main pully was on back order for like 6 months.. but besides that .. it went fine. They are kinda pricey but what isn't for our cars?

As far as I can tell, SR seems to be ok...I have never ordered anything from them, but I was around when their credibility was questioned a while ago...

The problem for the most part was simply that they were advertising sales of mazdaspeed camshafts, that in reality didn't really exist...the "mazdaspeed intake cam for the FS" that they were selling was not a mazdaspeed anything, it was simply the FSZE varient of the stock intake cam...and the Mazdaspeed exhaust cam was a repinned DE intake cam, that was verified by the FS09 markings (whatever the markings were, I forget...this was years ago..but that is what led to the questions)

In either case, the only issue was the false power claims incorporated in their product descriptions...but anyone gullable enough to think a pair of cams will give you 28 hp on a small 4 cylinder engine with no additional tuning probably deserved to be duped in the first place...

either way I have heard their service and shipping times/rates have always been reasonable...The probe community has been buying stuff from them for years...just take the descriptions for certain products with a grain of salt, and whatever mods you are making verify through other sources as well...

oh ya dude i think its funny as hell how they say thier products make so much HP.. i just use it as a estimate if they say 10-15 i'm look at 3-8.

pretty much anything they claim as mazdaspeed is a lie. and they know it.

what do you mean?

Mazda makes a slightly more aggressive intake cam (the stock Intake cam for the FS-ZE)...and there used to be a limited production Mazdaspeed exhaust cam, which has since been discontinued...you can occasionally find one used on the boards though...

but as far as anything aggressive, you are correct...and that is exactly how it should be...cams finish a build...its pointless to try an build an entire engine around a pair of premade cams you picked up...uncut blanks are readily available from a number of sites...and there are hundreds of cam machinists on the net that you can have cut the blanks to whatever specs you want....

thats why shelf cams are better, because they cheaper, and for total new-B's they are pre spec'd which is great.

But I do agree, that getting blanks and making custom grinds will yeild the most HP overall.
