On more than one occasion I have managed to fit the dog, camping gear, kayaking gear, and two passengers in there without too much trouble. I also managed to wedge a full-size Lazyboy recliner in the back. The moral of the story is: the hatchback fits an assload of gear.
P.S. The privacy cover for the hatch area hasn't been in my car for months.

Loose said:...they SUGGEST that you leave them rear facing until they are a year old. It's not the law however. I felt safe that once he had good neck control he could go foward. I have a big kid too. He was 25 lb @ 9 months old.
ps: tell your kid HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
