Curious, do you find the trunk fits all their stuff no problems? Like the stroller? Do you have to take out the divider thingy in the trunk?

I don't have a kid, but I do have a Mz3 Sport and an 85 pound Greyhound. On more than one occasion I have managed to fit the dog, camping gear, kayaking gear, and two passengers in there without too much trouble. I also managed to wedge a full-size Lazyboy recliner in the back. The moral of the story is: the hatchback fits an assload of gear.

P.S. The privacy cover for the hatch area hasn't been in my car for months.

I have a 3s 5 door, I think it's the equivilant of a 3 Sport. I have a 18 month old with another on the way. the 3 is not the primary kid hauler but when the family goes out, we take the 3. We use an umbrella stroller when we do go out and fit all of her stuff as well as what ever we bought shopping. Getting a twin stroller in, plug gear, should fit as well.

I have a 67 pound Greyhound and a 4 year old, I too, manage to go camping and fit everything in our P5, I know it's not a 3 (yet) I'm always amazed at the amount of stuff a hatchback can haul. I still don't know why people buy SUV's.

Two kids.

They are 1 and 7. The only problem I had was the rear facing car seat didn't fit so well. As soon as the kid turned 9 mo old he was big enough to face front. Since then no problems. They actually prefer to zoom-zoom rather than drive in "mom's car"

Interesting that you say that! Can you please elaborate? Did you read my post about the exact problem you're talking about?

My post about rear facing child seats not fitting well

Most people said they didn't have problems. What kind of problems did you have? A Consumer Reports article on the Mz3 said:

Rear-facing child seats can be difficult to install securely due to excessive side-to-side tilt. The contoured center rear seatback complicates seat installation.

If you read your post you will see that I commented on just that fact.

So you found side to side tilt, when you placed the seat in the rear, behind the passenger or driver seat?

This is my original post.

The rear facing car seat was somewhat difficult to securely plant in the BACKSEAT. I had mine on the driver's side though. My son recently got larger and was converted to foward facing and the seat went in without a hitch. I would check the car seat styles, many are diffrent and some may fit better rear facing than others. In the mean time we used the wife's car to transport the kid. Now that he faces foward in the BACKSEAT he regularly appreciates the zoom zoom.

9 Months? I know here it is the LAW to keep them rearfacing till 1 year.
I have mine rear facing on the passenger side rear and no problems at all. One more week till mine is a year and it goes to forward facing. But the Mazda3 does hold everything we need until we get a new SUV (Nissan Pathfinder) (cool)

Here in Pa..

...they SUGGEST that you leave them rear facing until they are a year old. It's not the law however. I felt safe that once he had good neck control he could go foward. I have a big kid too. He was 25 lb @ 9 months old.

ps: tell your kid HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Crazy, it is the law here though.
Yeah my boy is pretty big too, I am sure looking forward to flipping his seat soon. Thanks

I think the law varies state to state in the US. Texas dosen't AFIK. BTW, my daughter is tiny, healthy, but tiny. She was a year old and only 18 lbs. We asked the Dr. and she said that it was ok to turn her around now (recomended weight is 20). She is now 17 months and only 21 lbs.
