White smoke on cold start

I recently changed my spark plugs, wires, and valve cover gasket. Starting immediately after the install of those things, I get about 20 seconds of thick white smoke anytime I start the car.

Any ideas?

White smoke is supposed to be from water. Does the smoke smell like anti-freeze?

Has there been a massive change in the weather in the last week there? Different weather could result in more condensation in the exhaust system. But I would think that would take more than 20 seconds to burn off.

Did you accidentally loosen any of the head bolts when you were working on the car?

My experience with burning anti-freeze is that it smells sweet, kinda like syrup. This doesn't smell like that. But maybe it smells differently coming out of the exhaust.

No massive weather change, and it's been happening consistently for about 2 weeks now.

Didn't touch any of the head bolts (had the same thought), but removing the valve cover seems like it could be a culprit somehow.

Thanks for the ideas so far, I'd really like to figure this out.

no CELs? Are you losing coolant as time goes on...check your reservoir?
