so i just noticed a whistleing noise under WOT acceleration, like above 3k and close to peak boost (stock boost level). any idea what it may be? i know the sound of the rubo when it spools up, the sucking of air.... but this whistle is a much higher pitch, nothing to loud but a definate change in pitch. kicks in at around 3k under WOT. under normal acceleration it dosent make the same noise. maybe im just paraniod.

sounds like its just the turbo spooling. so enjoy it.

turbo has 55k on it, the turbo spooling sound i thought i knew, this is i higher pitched sound that changes around 3k under WOT. under normal driving conditions its quite and if i roll onto the throttle and accelerate at a even pace i dont hear it. i hope its just the turbo spool.

under 3K and under WOT sounds like the turbo isn't fully spooled, so, before full boost is built, I would expect it to sound different. unless theres something about it that sounds "BAD", I would relax and enjoy. FYI, I have 102K on my turbo (and engine for that matter), and I don't even burn any oil unless I use 5W-30.

if your saying your turbo sounds normal might be you catylic converter my eclipse would make that same sound.go outside take someone with you turn your car on go to your exhaust cover with your hand and have other person rev your car.if exhaust comes out but then u feel sucktion in the middle of the rev its your cat.do this after your car been sitting for a couple of hours so u wnt burn the s*** out yourself.

Mine does this too, but at higher rpm. I'm pretty sure it's just the noise of the wastegate actuator arm moving. I can hear the turbo spooling, but this is a different sound. I wouldn't call it a whistle, but it's definitely high pitched.

This seems very familiar, it took me a lot of parts and time (over a year) to the source og the sound. It started rather low and then became louder, if you can start hearing the whistle sound way before boosting (like 10 vacuum) you might have the same problem.

American cars are known for loose bolts aren't they, and since the turbo setup was added in america on the MSP you shold check the bolts connecting the turbo to the exhaust manifold, they might be loose.
