When I turn on the 2 i hear a whining whirring noise through the speaker lines. I had aftermarket speakers installed, along with an amp and sub. was it the wiring they used? Whats the fix. I went with a ma n pa shop. My lights dont dim or anything like that, i dont even hear the whine when i accelerate... but its there. Do i need higher gauge wiring? bigger battery? voltage sabilizer? Thanks.

Sounds like a ground loop issue, probably with the new amp. Make sure that the shop used a clean ground point (they should have sanded off any paint where they attached the ground lead to the body).

Alternator whine. They either didn't install it correctly (wiring power next to signal lines) or they got the gain staging wrong between the deck and the amps.

Good ground is essential, but probably not the cause of your problem. Check to see that the power and signal wiring are going down opposite sides of the car (or at least the middle and one side) and wherever the amps are mounted make sure they are as far away from power lines as is practical. If they are in such a condition, then check the gains on the amp. If they look cranked, or if you're getting high volumes at low settings on your deck, then changes are good the gain staging is messed up. Also make sure high quality shielded or twisted pari wiring was used to get from the deck to the amps. If its really crap cable you coudl get alternator whine as well...
