Does anyone have an idea of what this may be? I have tried just looking and listening to see where it is coming from, but all i can tell is it is on the left side of the engine near the belts. i have checked and the belts arent loose or anything, and its not really a squeal like a loose belt, and its not like a hiss from a leak or something.

Get some heavy duty silicone grease or lubricant spray. And spray it on ur belts I had the same issue

Oh ok. I just thought that would cause the belt to slip if it was on the inside of the belt. Would something like this work: high temp grease? sorry for my ignorance, I've just never put stuff on the belts before.

im not sure but those belts should be set prtty tight so i never worried about mine slipping. and no that is way too heavy duty lol, the stuff im talking about you can get at autozone its in a red spray can and its just spray

If is sounds like a moaning type of sound its probably you power steering pump going bye bye. See if the sound changes when you pull the steering all the way to one side and all the way to the other. You may want to change the fluid and purge the air out for the heck of it.

Use a screw driver as a stethiscope (not sure on spelling) and find exactly where it is coming from. Things it could be:

Idler pulley
Timing belt pulley
The timing belt hitting the timing belt cover
Altenator bears
etc.......

Will check it out this weekend, and see what I can find out.

Then it may be loose belts. If the alternator isn't OEM it wouldn't surprise me if that's what is making noise.

Mines starting to make similar noises, started off minor and quiet...But now it squeels. Only when my Cabin fan is on 3rd or 4th notch, and rear defroster on. I'm sure hoping its just a loose belt, cause everything attachted to it was just replaced during the; Fried Piston Rings/oil starvation-Rebuild-Forge-big boost. Something that bothers me is that I have a 1000w amp with no cap(dumb i know) and can pump it with no dimming lights, but when i roll down my windows everything dims, and when i turn on/off headlights, or defroster, or fan the engine either makes a slight strain noise aka minor elevation in idle rpm, or sounds like I just took the gag out of its mouth-reduced engine strain.

Now i know those things will add some extra load to the electrical system, but why is it so noticeable? During the cooldown period i experimented with this, and turned off the lights, fan, and defroster at the same time, wow. I know the fan makes noise, but even if the fans off and I turn off defroster or lights or both it still does it. Would an aftermarket grounding kit possible help with my flucuations?

When using the screwdriver as stethoscope be sure to put it right on the pulley as its moving :p lol jk. It's probably just a bad pulley bearing.

Find out which one it is and remove the bearing to get the part number off the bearing. Any parts store should have them cheap.
