I sold my audio system for $580 CAD.
I'm planning to get one powerful sub and a mono amp.
Which company makes decent sub and amp??
What do you like??
I've installed 2 JL12W0, but I want more power that ppl outside can hear the bass. I like sub that hits low bass, not like JL 12W0 which hits high end bass.

And, I've heard if i get a overpowered subs, the bolts in my car will be loosen because of vibration. Is that true? or :bs:

personally i wouldn't get any of them:D if it's bass you want, and you have a budget, none of them are what i'd go with. since you want low bass, you'll want to look for a sub with a high excursion (xmax), so it's capable of moving a good distance, to really belt out the low notes;) what's your budget for your system? that will give me a good starting point to recomend products:D *if* you had an extremely loud system, you could rattle bolts loose, but they are just bolts for things like the rear bumper. but that would be a hell of a system;) my old system that had a single MOFO 15 vibrated the rear deck (the metal part, not the plastic part) so much that i've got the start of stress cracks in the bottom and top of my back window:eek: not bad yet, but i keep an eye on them, and i've got full glass coverage from my insurance:p

my bedget is $1400 CAD, so it will be approximately $1000 USD
I only need one sub, a mono amp, and a ported box.

1000 us for a sub/amp/box, you got some potential.

how big of sub are you willing to run? b/c for a 1000 you can get a resonant engineering xxx 15 for 400 bucks or an 18 for 430.(plus around 40 bucks shipping),(all models have a xmax of 32mm and a 1600 watt rms) 350 bucks for a tsunami 1800 watt rms amp(probably 15 shipping) and about 30 bucks to build you box. thats 835 right now, so spend the rest of wiring and or a battery. That setup will make got wakes mofo piss on its self;) now you ARE gona have to run atleast 4 ga wiring to the amp, with nothing else on that line. if you are gona run other amps off that power line, run 1/0 ga wire. anyways.

I want brands. they are more reliable.
I have 2 kinds of subs in my mind, Kicker Solo 10SL5 and Alpine Type R. Which sub is good to go for?? I want decent low bass that doesn't loosen the bolts on my rear bumper ;)

If want bass that'll be heard outside the car you can forget both of those...

You need something with a big motor and large Xmax(stroker...hehehe)...look at competition level speakers like RE, eD, Adire, etc. and get a big, powerful amp. It doesn't seem like you're that interested in SQ, so take JL off your list for amps. They'll do just fine, but they're expensive powerwise. Look at Kicker if you want a brand that's easy to find that will throw a ton of power for moderate cost. If you can shop online then look at the Avionixx and Tru brands available from Elemental Designs. Those will cost you less...

And of course, if you want more power, you need to design a box (or talk to Wake about it) that'll give you those low hard hits. 6th order bandpass may be too difficult for you, initially...you can check out ported then. However, you *must* build the box for it to be any good.

Sorry that those Kicker w0's didn't work out for you. I think we initially gave you those recommendations based on the idea that you were more interested in SQ, but for pure power, really look elsewhere.

dude, i compete, and my bumper hasn't fallen off:D neither alpine, JL, or kicker are really great for low bass. kicker is mainly for higher bass, where SPL apps use for comps, but they just aren't very efficient in the low freq's. alpine is too into SQ, and they don't have a lot of output. with 2 brahma 10's i could out hit a guy that was at a comp with 6 of the type R 12's:rolleyes: JL makes great amps and subs, but for the money you can do better. i've also heard from people that the W7's aren't great for low bass. let me rephrase that, they aren't as good as a brahma for low bass;) if you want to stick with the same brand for amp and sub, resonant engineering will have their 36.1 amp coming out soon, hopefully by the end of the month. it'll put out 1800 watts rms x1 at 1 ohm. pair it up with any of the XXX dual 2 ohm subs, and you'll have a rock solid system that can crank out the low notes:D the XXX has higher xmax than the brahma's, and it uses the same xbl2 technology to keep the sub linear through the whole range of movement, which gives it extrodinary sound quality:D

call them for direct pricing.
or if you don't mind using partnered companies, you could get an elemental design A15 and an avionixx amp;)

all the brands i listed are name brand well known in the SPL world. the amps are in contract with elemental subs, and resonant engineering xxx is known to blow just about everything away, even strokers

you want bass to be heard outside of the car then you need this/members/KYMP5/sub9500.jpg

Yep...it's kinda on back order for a while. Still...you can get a couple of 12As that will hit real hard...much more so than an Alpine or Kicker. But like others have said, they still retain SQ and aren't as high and Xmax and SPL as other subs. They are a mixed SQ/SPL beast...not a one or the other deal.
