Hey guys, does anyone recommend a shop to get my lowering springs installed? I called 1 place and got a quote of $600, I dunno if thats high or not. Just trying not to get ripped off.

Im in the same boat as you, I have my coils but dunno about the installation,
I talked to Ken at Protegegarage and apparently he says it takes like 2 hrs.. and whats the average hourly rate 80-90$/hr? so thats like $180.00 $200.00 max...personally im thinking that im just gonna wing it one weekend with some buddies and beer...which really is always a good combination when working on vehicles especially suspension haha

LOL..it's not just like 2 hours. LOL.

But if you want a 2 hour job, that means those endlinks and all of those bolts must've been pre-loosened already.

I remember on my old p5, even with Liquid Wrench, and the right tools, it took me and Nick like 4 hours to do the rear struts/springs.

And then it took about 1.5 hours to do the fronts.

Just be prepared to run into some snags. And soak all those bolts with Liquid Wrench every few hours the day before the installations.

Hmm 4 hours eh? Takes longer than I thought. I'll have to shop around a bit this week, but I dont feel like paying $600 for it. If thats the price I'd rather take 10hrs and do it with a buddy. Call me cheap if u want, but $600 is almost a new exhaust =)

oh Ill show all of you..ill be in the 2 hr club and I have no idea what im doing

I got a quote done to do rear/front struts and rear/front endlinks and it was $1100 for that... $700 for rear alone. Probably gonna do it myself, I'd rather pay myself $40/hour than someone else $90/hour.

hmm we should all get together and tackle this as a team, would be fun, beer proteges what else could you want

sure as long as one of you brings the spring compressor

If you have a vice, it works. We just used a simple table vice to do mine and Nick's suspension.

And I'm up for an install day. Let me know. Buy some Liquid Wrench and soak them nuts the night before.

Forgot that you're installing coilovers. Uhm..I dont' think a self-install will do. They will need to get aligned right away. Your car won't be very driveable
after the install. It needs to be installed at the shop right there where the alignment machine is. That would be my recommendation anyways.

hmmm..well its like a 5 minute drive to the shop anyways through a community I dont think that will matter too much

protege's and a ms6...but a 3hr drive to calgary is a bit long for me lol And a vice works? holy crap I'll just do it at job then. I have an ex mechanic that I work with and he said he'll help =)
