Where to get an 07 MS3 crate engine?

Buddy has an 07 MS3 bone stock spun a rod bearing where can we get a crate engine from dealer says $4400 for it curious if there is a dealer that does special pricing for forum member in the US somewhere I know I can get %10 over cost from a specific ford dealer bc I'm an SVT forum member curious if you guys have something similar?

Could buy a completed short-block and reuse existing head and exterior accessories

If you race or plan to race at all, including autocross, etc., you can sign up for Mazda Motorsports for some fairly significant discounts. If you're building the car, you'll need a SCCA or NASA club membership.

If you don't race, and don't want to build the engine yourself, the CP-E short block isn't a bad route.

I don't get why used engines are so expensive $3400 for a 70k mile engine that's nuts can buy a fresh long block for $4400 or get it rebuilt for $3400.....

Compared to the FS protege engine, (which I have bought 7 of over the years from $100-$500 used) the Mazdaspeed engine uses direct injection and is harder to find, thus more in demand.

all of this makes the cost higher.

I can understand that but the cost of a used engine shouldn't be the same as a rebuild. I could understand $2500 but that's about it....

When I blew my first motor, Mazda wanted $4700 for a crate FS Longblock.

It depends on where you buy and what is involved in the process of making the engine.

the FS is a N/A engine and the MS3 engine is built for boost. I am sure that it is more complex and more design consideration goes into that motor.

Not to mention the R&D that they did for direct injection.
