Where is the Intake Air temp Sensor located exactly?

Well I don't think I want to pay $60+ for the dyno runs just to prove our point but...

This thread just keeps getting better and better...

Send me a link to the exact chip you bought on eBay. I'm going to buy one. Seriously.

Go to digikey, it'll cost you 8 cents. With a 5.6KOhm resistor in series with the IAT sensor the ECU will always think the air temperature is just a little below freezing regardless of what the weather is outside.

Page 01-40B-27 of the service manual hints that the IAT sensor is a simple thermistor which is why you can trick it so easily. Here's the air temperture vs resistance graph for the sensor:

Will tricking the ECU into thinking its colder outside give you over 9000 more horsepower? I think not.

Well, yeah. Butt dyno FTW! Though I don't have an FS-DE anymore. It probably doesn't work with a KL... heh-heh

Good post, Cheese. But I was hoping for 9001 whp. Damn.

I just don't understand why you couldn't shift at higher rpms before? I can shift at 2500rpms or at 7000 if you went from shifting at 2500 rpms without the chip and then shifted at 5500 then ya there will be a huge power difference I don't even build up power till 3000ish. But just an fyi the ecu won't advance the timing what it does is set the temp at whnatever its programed to do so when its warm it runs richer when its cold it will run leaner if its too cold itl run too lean and you will have issues the richer it runs the less power you have. If you want 30 hp na do it the right way header exhaust intake and an ssafc that let's you tune it not some bs chip that doesn't work

when its warm it runs richer when its cold it will run leaner

You got that backwards, air is more dense when it's cold so you need more fuel for the same volume of air.

Since our cars use MAFs wouldn't the IAT sensor not really be necessary? Or is the MAF not very accurate across all temperatures and the IAT is used to compensate?

I meant if you have the chip it will do that because itl will be showing that its colder than what it is. I think the maf determins the volume of air but not how dense it is not positive though

I did disconnect my battery but that has nothing to do what so ever with me getting extra thrust of Power. The Thrust of Power simply comes from the chip its not a Mystery it does work lol! Wether the ECU restores power Its not going to give the Chip more energy the Chip gives off horse power itself. Anyway im done talking about this Thread take the Positive results i mentioned for what it is! It was fun while i had it!

Your link doesn't work. Dang it. I was hoping to add thrust to my P5... sad panda.

Whatever happened to giving people benefit of the doubt lol? I realize were all here to help each other out and not drown one other under water with yeah right this yeah right that! I mean having experience with something is one thing but drilling somebody about something is another. If all of these forums were negative no body would be on them but there are some great things on here that's why i Joined. Accepting opinions is one thing but being drilled by your Progress is another. Take it with a grain of Salt.

then you can put them all in your intake and have 12.5 p.s.i.!!!!!!!!!!

maybe ill add a few to my car too, screw turning up the boost with a tune (lol2)

You don't get the benefit of the doubt if 99.9% of all of these "performance chips" that connect to the IAT are known to be glorified resistors (or in the case of the "chip" you linked to, a potentiometer).

Didn't your president once say something like "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, you can't get fooled again!". Maybe that'll help you understand our predicament :P

Yes we are here to help each other which is why we're warning other forum members that this is a scam, because we're nice like that ;)

Don't worry, we already have.

But guys your missing the point if you read the link the chip tunes your ecu for you and its adjustable so you can chose how much power you want. Now seriously why would people pay 400 for an ssafc so they can tune their cars but they won't spend 60 bucks on this miracle chip that supposedly does the same thing. Besides if it really did tune the ecu you would hook it up to the ecu not the intake temp sensor. But since your chip is so great and tunes your ecu for you do us all a favor and throw a 250 shot of nitrous to your car that should give you plenty of power as well

This is hilarious. The site says 50 hp gain! Does it include a turbo with it? LOLOLOL at this thread.

Considering he didn't even know where the IAT sensor was, I'm going to trust his expert testimony on this chip.
