Ive been waiting patiently until now. how hard is it for someone to release a header for our cars for less than 700 dollars. im keeping my car NA so i need a header. i know there are a cuple headers out there that have to be modified to be put on but i dont want to get one that i have to. how hard is it for someone to add a friggn hole for the o2 sensor and the egr valve?
does anyone know if anyone is still working on a header for our cars that we can put on without mods?

I hear ya bro. Its getting so bad I went and test drove the WRX again, and it keeps looking sweeter.

How much is trade in on a P5 with 10K?

Trading the P5 in for a WRX would be a very, very smart move. WRX has a butt load of parts for it, it's faster than piss and can beat most any 4 cylinder fresh off the lot........Actually, the WRX can beat all 4 cylinder cars available in stock trim. I say go for the trade in. You will be happier.

I saw a WRX take a Mustang GT by 3 car lengths. Also I saw the same one take a Toyota Supra TT by a car and a half. He has done some work with the engine. I would go for it if I was you man. Wish I did. Not really I am happy with my MP-3 with N2O. If I had a secondary car a WRX would be it.:D

I wish I would have waited

I could have gotten a WRX if I would have waited till I got to Dallas. With my new job, the WRX would be easily affordable, plus mods. Damn I'm stupid.

Why would you want a headder? For the size of engine and the output you have a headder would give you no gains. Down low you would actually lose power. And you might gain a hp or two up in the rpm curve but it would not be worth it.

to : LT1 power

shut the hell up you idiot and dont talk unless you know what you are talking about. A header is only going to add 1 hp uhhhuhh. sorry we cant all own a Vette

Considering the displacemnet and the compression ratio plus the out put of the engine a headder is NOT going to make a noticable difference. You WILL lose torque down low and gains up top WILL be minimal.

I have tuned and dynoed more cars that you will know. I know what works and what does not.

It's sad to say this, but, he is right. You will lose a lot of torque, and the hp gains in the high rpm range will only reach 5-8 hp gains. The only way to go with (most) import 4cyl's is forced incuction.

just a header will not get you much gain like they said. and you will lose low end and gain top end. but if you add to other things it will help in the end.

LT1 Power - i have seen a few of you other post. place nice man. we are all car guys. personally it doesnt matter what kind of car somebody has. if they are modding it let them play

mp301guy - calm down, smoke a bowl, take shot. just relax and respond like a human being. ignore him if you must.

I am just trying to help where I can. When people post BS then others read it and might think it is true. I am just trying to help those people out. :D :D

I am just trying to do the right thing:D

i know how you feel on BS stories. i usually ignore them, but thats just me.
now lets go race i can take your piece of s*** domestic. it will probably fall apart before we get to the finish line anyways :D ;)
just messin with ya. what do you run with that thing and what do you have done to it.

My wife is from there. You will be happy to know the only thing the cops pull you over for there is to check the papers to see if the car is stolen. No cat and no speedometer needed.:D

from racing beat:
" prototype header was also produced for the Protege. The Protege is equipped with a catalytic converter located directly under the stock exhaust manifold, which makes the production of a conventional design header rather difficult. In an attempt to discover if the 2.0 liter Protege engine responded to a "conventional" header design, a rather unorthodox looking header was fabricated to test this premise. In order to extend the header primary tubing to the desired length, the primary tubing on the prototype header was wrapped around the upper radiator hose, then routed down to the catalytic converter. This design stood little chance of making it to production, but subsequent testing confirmed our beliefs that the catalytic converter was a "power-robbing" source. This header was not included on the prototype delivered to Mazda. Further testing on a header for the Protege has not been conducted."

FYI, a header on our "little 4-cyl" car would be benificial. When was the last time you saw a race car with a stock manifold that was about 3" long that ran into a primary cat?

What you said.

WRX is a nice ride, but many tranny problems have surfaced. Better to wait a year to iron out problems.

I didn't know about that. Don't get me wrong, I love my MP3, but the power and potential of the WRX is amazing. When you can spend $5000 and have like 350hp from a 4cyl, that's just insane! That's ok, when I graduate from college in 1.5 to 2 yrs, I want to buy an M3. There's nothing like 330hp from a NA 6cyl. Each cylinder has it's own throttle body and intake. That is an amazing car.

Regarding your post from the Protegeclub forum thread: chill dude. I'm bored at work, just having some fun.

All previous joking aside, big_ben, you're right about the M3. I guess I'm biased because I have a 2001 M3. Only thing is, it kills my bank account. My payments are about $1200 / month CDN, and insurance is robbery.

My co-worker here has a blue WRX. It's fast for the money, but we both agree that it needs some refinement. If you don't need 4 doors, there are better cars out there.

My GF is getting a new car, and I'm steering her into a BMW 330i, but her co-worker is trying to get her to buy a WRX Sedan, since he has one too...

Went to the Subaru dealer last weekend, the guy told me to wait a year, cause there will be a LOT of 2-year WRXs coming back... supposedly, he says that the customers like the car, but almost none of them want to keep it... Comments are: too cheap an interior, too much worry about tranny, lots of squeaks and rattles, poor long distance fuel economy.

Of course, your own personal mileage may vary...

What are the tranny problems?

I might think about getting a used one when people start trading them in. What were the tranny problems they've had? I didn't know much about aftermarket for the WRX till yesterday. I went to a site that sells the Cobb tuning package, and for 5 grand you can have the WRX way over 300 hp. I think I'd die in a crash with that much power though.
