I am thinking of getting high compression pistons or a turbo for my mp3.... if and when i get the pistons what else will i need to get to make this run safely... if i get pistons i will have Cams ... i heard someone talking about the S-AFC wont work at WOT for the FS motors.... is this true? what else will i need to get? i am also planning on a header if someone will come out with a DAMN header.... GRRR... and i have an AEM intake and i have my resonator removed.... if i plan on pistons should i keep 2 inch piping, or get 2.25-2.5 piping??? i am going to keep one cat no matter what...
i would appreciate any help from you guys... i need to decide what im going to do to get this car faster than all the civics out there....:D

Chris

ALSO i want to get my 1/4 mile times into the 14's.... would this be possible with Intake, Cams, Pistons... etc

Pistons...

You can get pistons and nothing else if you want, though the one thing you will need is higher octane gas... I dont think the gains from pisons cam i/h/e will be that great, but you should get an extra 20 hp at the wheels... dont quote me. I would suggest that you think about what you are going to do first, b/c putting in high compression pistons then turboing a car in not a great idea, but it can be done, youll just need to strengthen. If you are going to go teh turbo route, you will want to go at least 2.25 piping, and also, the headers will be usless... So my suggstion would be to think about what you want to do in teh long run. May i also suggest a lighter flywheel. I hear it can make a great improvment in acceleration, and what not. So good luck to ya, but think aobut what you want in teh end before throwing down the cash. Sorry about all the typos! GL

The pistons are a good idea but in a previous post "180hp in 2 weeks" someone got a quote from a few different mechanics and all of them quoted a cost of $1000 to install the pistons. I guess they figured about 19-20 hours of work.
Sounds like a lot but that's what it said.
After all of the NA mods and cost of installing some of them, it will cost almost as much as a turbo would.

Building a NA motor to yeild the same power of a turbo motor is damn near impossible. It can be done but you have to have MMADD cash. And for an NA motor with our 2.0L only go as high as 2.25" after that you are goign to see drastic low end loss. You only need higher if goign t Forced Induction. and even then with the low boost our cars can run 2.5" is pretty much optimal until we can get some forged internals.

well by the end of this summer i will be able to have pistons, cams, flywheel, clutch, header, possibly a FMU, exhaust if i need it, and my heads ported and polished.... all of those minus the FMU should give me about 180 hp at the engine right???

Oh yeah it may give you 170 at the flywheel but that is conservative. Jeremy what are you looking at with your FS-ZE with the stock computer? That shoudl give him a ballpark then add about 10-12 HP for the exhaust cam, header, and exhaust without the stand alone......with the stand alone you might be looking at 180 if your lucky.

hey chd,
how much to date has your turbo cost you... if i can get a reliable turbo installed on my car for about 3500 then i will do a turbo... how long is corksport and tripoint supposed to have theirs released? im on a powertrip... i need to keep up with my friends legasy turbo... lol

With all the custom fab it has run me about 3 grand to date but that is including my NOS setup. No date yet of tripoint or corksports turbo kti I'm not seeing it anytime soon though.

im also planning on pistons too.... the pistons should help me out considerably... what companies out there have fairly priced stand alones? am i going to end up spending over a grand for a stand alone?

haev you had any engine problems? i want a kit that will keep my car reliable also... i dont want to have to rebuild my engine in a few thousand miles.. i need to keep this my daily driver until im out of college...

clocking 1400 miles on the turbo and no problems what-so-ever except my check engine light from me not having a catalyst.
