is this info enough to know if these rims will fit on a P5 ?

" Panasport ProRally wheels, 15x7, 5 lugs on 4.500 bolt circle, Backspacing is about 5.000-5.250 inches "

if not, please let me know what other info I would need

thanks much

I'm completely wheel ignorant, so I have no idea what Backspacing refers to , or if it could be adjusted or not... please educate the ignorant =p

hmm.. and is there any way to adjust that ? or does the wheel have to be made with that offset ?

Get them to tell you the offset and center bore.
Backspacing is too confusing and isn't used except by redneck Americans ;)

The offset should be anywhere between 45 and 55 mm for best fit with a 7" wide rim.

Yeah Cragar, and American Racing wheels still use that s*** for muscle cars...Get it out of here...

Backspacing/offset is fixed per wheel...You can sometimes increase it by machining the wheel hub surface down, or decrease it by using wheel spacers, both of which cannot always be done...with variables including wheel strength and stud length...

As far as offset:

It refers to the inner portion of the hub's (the surface that mounts on your brake rotor or drum hub) distance from the center of the wheel (placing the wheel vertical on the ground as if mounted on a car; the middle line of where the tire will stretch over...the middle section of a 8" wide wheel would be 4"s in from the outer lip) Most FWD require a + offset (measured in mm), in which the center mounting hub's surface is + "45" or + "50" mm from the centerline of the wheel...those crazy Germans will mount discustingly wide 11" wheels on the back of Porsche Turbo's with NEGATIVE offsets, sometimes as much as -10mm, which results in huge machined lips or "deep" dish wheels...that obviously will not fit on any Protege...

For reference, Stock P5's have a wheel offset of +50mm on the stock 16x6" wheels...also with a bolt pattern/spacing of 5x114.3mm

Okay.. so I asked the guy what the centerbore and offset is .... and here's the response I got ...does this help? =p

" Here's some measurments that might help. Center hole is 2.250 inches.
From the front lip of the wheel to the lug seat is 2 inches. From the
rear lip to the axel mounting surface is 5.375 inches. Any other
questions?

2.25 inches = 57.15mm
2 inches = 50.8mm
5.375 inches = 136.525mm

That centerbore is about 10 mm too small.

But who the hell gives those measurements in Inches??

He didn't even give you the correct measurement for offset. Offset is from the center line of the rim to the mounting surface.

I guess you could estimate the offset by taking his measurement of backspacing and subtracting 1/2 the width of the rim. Then converting the difference to mm.

bah... not worth taking chances on .... I'm an idiot... he's an idiot.. not a good combo ... =p
