Whats your 3rd gear top out at?

I was just curious if anyone else that has gotten the flash has there third gear top out at 89 - 90 mph @7k rpm. How would this change by advancing the timing?

You guys sure about that? Can anyone with non-flash run 3rd gear till 7k rpm?

Fuel cut is at 7k i think or maybe a little beyond. I usually don't run into there though, after 6k you start to lose power and torque pretty quick.

The only reason that im bringing this up is because running the 1/4 mile in my car. I brougth 3rd to 7k rpm and thats when my 1/4 would end which is about 85 mph. now that after this pcm reflash i swear to you it makes me think im going 89 mph at 7krpm. thats why im like wtf?

I leave 3rd gear at 80 mph. I feel a huge power drop after that. My shifting is as follows:

1st: 6100
2nd: 6200
3rd: 6300
4th: 6500
5th: MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH :):)

haha, so have u ran the 1/4mile stock basically with those shift points? How well do you do.

Flash or no flash if you did not change your transmission or more likely your wheels, the rpms vs. speed will not change.

I would not think so because speedometer reading are taken from the transmission. So if nothing changed there then it should be the same. I'm not sure why your 3rd is topping out at 90 mph. If I remember correctly mine topped out at like 80. When I get my car back from the dealership (replacing turbo) I'll see where mine goes to with the flash.

ya, 3rd gear at 7k rpm remember..

the power at different rpm's will change, so the speed will change. as i modded other cars i've had, as i improved efficiency by freeing up exhaust, intake, etc... the car would be at a different speed at a slightly lower rpm with each mod. efficiency is the key. granted, they aren't going to be major changes, but i have in the past noticed differences.

What??? That is funny.

1000 hp turns a crank at 1000 rpm.

100 hp turns a crank at 1000 rpm.

Doesn't matter.

Tires turn the same as they did before.

I think your old car had a slipping clutch of torque convertor that couldn't handle the added hp. Or maybe the tires were spinning all the time.

Effeciency? All that does is change the amount of fuel required to maintain a given horsepower figure to keep a car at a given speed.

Anyone remember Physics class?

Actually, the power has more to do with how quickly the revs raise in a car... The gearbox is statically geared, and is spinning the wheels at a set revolution at any given RPM, so technically, without changing anything on the transmission, you wouldn't see any speed changes, as it's simply relating the number of rotations per minute from the transmission directly to the drivetrain through the gears, spinning the hubs at a relational speed to the transmission's revolutions, known as a gear ratio. So without changing the ratio, your speed at any given RPM shouldn't change at all... Which is why as you add power, some people would feel the need to lengthen the gears, as, in a Protege, if you hit 600whp, you would be through the first four gears in a blinding instant. =)

Ummm.

1-you could quadruple HP and your car will still do the same MPH at a given gear and RPM. PERIOD. Unless you change GEARING, it will remain the same. They are LOCKED.

2-Revving your car to 7K RPM is not only dangerous, but silly. You're losing tons of power LONG before 7K RPM. This isn't a video game, it's a real car.
