I was thinking about trading my car in. I know a few people on this forum traded there car for something else. How much did you get for a trade in value? So im selling some parts off my car for anyone who is interested.

I have a 3" Apexi exhaust cat back, 3" Apex catless DP, Injen CAI, Ion FMIC. The UR CRANK Pulleys Eibach Sportlines 1.8" drop, Greddy Profec B II, Greddy TT, but havnt decided if those are staying on the car.

i might want that fmic, hrmmm....and maybe the eibach's. keep me updated if you sell.

also edmunds says like 16k....up here in the NW msp's are still sellin for 20,000 after rebates so i would take a road trip :P.

it's a mazda protege, trade in is absolute s*** - find a private buyer.

Yes, I know it's an msp - so it's worth a little more. Still - you will get ***** at the dealer.

depends on what you're trading it in on.

You're crazy if you think the dealer will give you 13-14k on a $20,000 purchase. But, trade it towards a 7 series BMW or something and you might get lucky and get your money's worth :)

Private buyer is the best option, especially if you took care of her.

the MSP value will increase with time since it is limited edition. I say in 1 yr the MSP will pick up its value. I might trade it in then if I get a good deal towards an EVO or STI.

As above, trade in will be influenced by the price and popularity of the car you buy.

Lets assume you negotiate a rock bottom price on your new car, though.

Most dealers are pretty savvy, so they'll know new MSP's are available for $16.5k or so.

So they aren't likely to do much better than $12-13K.

They play all kinds of games, though, so if you want it to, they can make it look like you're getting more in trade- it just means you're paying more for the new car than you would have without the trade.

Most dealers will not give you much credit for you mods. Its all because they can't warranty them. I'd say about 12K-13K. :D

03 Black MSP, 3000 miles = $13,500, three dealers came back with this exact number and said they overallowed by $1,000. They said auction has them going for $12,500 with that low of miles. Don't know how much of that was BS.

I agree completely. I think it's WAY too early to think about a trade-in. I really believe a well-maintained factory MSP will really appreciate...just not for another year or two. Then again, I keep everything. Gas receipts, oil changes, tint-paperwork, insurance papers, tag forms...everything. That attention to detail well show a potential buyer that you took great care of the car, and will be worth alot more. Wouldn't it mean more to you?
