What's The Story On The Trim?

I have put down my $500 deposit a little while back at a dealership in Atlanta for a MSP, and like everyone awaiting the arrival.

I ordered the Orange, but am hoping out of the 20 they say they are getting there will be both a Black and Orange availiable so I can decide after seeing them both upclose and in person. I like the Orange, but sometimes it seems like it will be a little too flashy for my age(28).

Anyway, The point to this post... I saw the "Spy" shot pictures from the mazdaspeed site:

These pictures have a side Molding/Trim on the car. I really like the looks of this on the Orange and if I was to get that color, I would like the Trim piece. It adds more shape of the body and breaks up the color a bit.

I haven't seen it on the car in any other pictures, so I was wondering if anyone knew the story on it? Will it be an option for the MSP? I didn't see it listed on the "Product Information Bulletin" as a feature/option or on the "build" section of the mazda site. I think this molding comes standard on the regular doesn't it? Think they will chunk it on for me in the orange color?

Trim

I drove the one of the 1st production models and it had the trim piece and looked exactly like the pic you have here. The orange will be the 1st cars out (sometime in Oct - 600 total) and the first black ones are scheduled to hit dealers in late nov/early dec.

the body side molding you are talking about looks like the same body side molding that is on all of the newer proteges....the mp3's have it...the standard pro's have it....the p-5's have it.....I can't imagine the MSP's NOT having it. in reality they are protective strips for the doors

well the others too....guess that is my bad for not noticing before....I will chalk that up to having only seen TWO MP3's in person before.

it will either save you a door ding from time to time...or it won't...

there have been quite a few people remove them to clean up the sides of their cars....and it does....but at the same time....if I am ever going to find myself parking in a lot...and you know that sooner or later you will.....I want all the protection I can get.

no where on the mazda web page does it make a distinction that the different colors will come out at a different time. UGH UGH UGH. this is retarted.

Well if the first wave of the MSP is only orange that would explain why in all the pictures we have seen of them at the docks and in the installation faciltiy, they have been Orange.

Kinda ironic that the two colors they are making them in (orange & black) for this Oct. release anyway, are the official halloween colors. Since people will be used to seeing Orange everywhere maybe they are trying to wean people into the color and make it seem not so freakish of a color for a car (lol).

If Orange is all that is availible in Oct, I will have to take it and like it! I would still like to get that side trim on it though. If I can't have that, then they better atleast paint an "01" on each side and a confederate flag on the roof... ha! ha!

I hope it doesn't come with the trim. It's a pain in the ass. i've had it on other cars. Water, dirt etc gets trapped in there, and it's a pain when washing the car. You think your car is all clean and dry, then you move it and all this s*** runs down the side of your car. Then you gotta wipe it all again.

The trim, can stay away for all I care.
