What's the better buy? SRI vs CAI?

What i'm really interested in is i'd like a graph seeing these intakes go head to head! :)

I've got the Cobb SRI and the sounds and power are great. Idk who said it messes up your fuel trims but mine are fine.

thats not really "top end" though. Traps are what 103-105? top end is 120+

top end is RPM...not top-speed.

Only intake I personally wouldn't buy (puts on flame suit) is the CP-E. Its nicely engineered, but according to their own tests, it runs RICHER than the stock intake... If spending that amount, I would go with the revised mazdaspeed CAI. SRI, I'd go Cobb or CP-E. If noise is your thing, the CP-E SRI will be louder do to the nature of metal vs silicone tubing found on the Cobb SRI. I currently have an Injen CAI and a Cobb SRI as well (on car currently). The CAI did feel better but only slightly and definitely makes more noise. The Cobb is very quiet...not stock quiet, but almost there when you are driving normally.

I said it, based on several others here on the forum. Not to say it won't work for you just fine.

So just to make it clear.. if someone were to be buying an intake would they go CAI or SRI?

From what I've seen on here, the majority of people have gone Cobb SRI. Initially, in 2007, a lot of people bought the MazdaSpeed CAI to avoid warranty issues, but a lot of good that did, as it was recalled for throwing CEL's.

Someone should set up an official poll on this issue. I would, but am just too lazy to figure it out.

Edit: My curiosity outweighed my laziness. Check the lounge for poll and participate dammit!

top is sort of a relative term if you ask me. top end what? speed, rpm, cost, etc...

according to the person i said that to, it was speed.

I had a CAI first and I did love it. I felt the same gains with my COBB SRI though when I put it on. The best part with an SRI is.. to clean the filter just

1. Pop the hood
2. Remove Filter.
3.(drinks)

It is pretty much all personal prefrence. Everyone is going to tell you to get what they have because that is what they spent their money on.

as said.

if anyof you guys live around each other and one of you have SRI and the other has CAI.

with just intakes and bovs. do a couple runs SRI to SRI then CAI to SRI. and see that the MS3 with the CAI doesnt start pulling ahead around 120 beyond

Someone send me their CAI and SRI. I'll put them on my car, get them both dyno tested, and compare it to my stock dyno. Then I'll ship them right back.

(attn) Oops! Poll moved to Forced Induction section. I don't think it will get as much love over there as in the lounge section though! (spank)

Get the best of both worlds ... buy yourself a Ractive cone filter with built-in heatshield and some 4" dryer vent and go ghetto.

Hey, a big (2thumbs) to you for taking the time to come up with your own design and keeping the $$$ in your pocket...
