Philosophical Ponder

I was pondering this the other day, when I somehow managed to go through about 60 in a day...
Zip-ties vs. Duct tape...
The old duct tape fixes anything thought process is facing a new challenger...Thoughts, opinions...

(smoke) =(stoned) =a poll like this...not that I endorse, or use any drug(s)(drinks)

Overall I believe there are more USES for duct tape.....however.....zip ties or Tyraps as we call them here have their place too.....they are NEATER....LOOK BETTER....and are commonly used for PERMANENT installs.....where as although duct tape works......it looks like it was a roadside repair.

I will say....I always have some of both in the trunk of my car. JUST IN CASE.

SO, seeing as how the name of the poll is "which is more useful for random tasks" I had to vote that way..

NOW if the poll was which do you USE MORE OFTEN....I would vote for the tyraps. cause I like it to look all neat and orderly. and not like jethro fixed it.

Being a computer geek (putting up with lots of wires, etc), I'm on the zip ties side of the fence.

zip ties for me. Too useful to ignore.

of course, if you're sealing off a hole or something, nothing beats good ol' duct tape.

"If nothing else works, duck it" :D

would have to vote ZIP-TIES, because at work, i dont even keep duct-tape, but im stocked with zip-ties, they are "handier"

Zip ties for computer stuff for sure...but overall duct tape wins hands down. Don't know how many times I've used it around the house for little odd things.

I can't even believe this is a question. Duct tape is the most useful stuff on the planet. Not to mention it comes in really cool colors, so you can mix and match your paint scheme.

Different colors?? I've only seen the original grey/silvery color. Now I'm gonna have to go out and find some of these other colors for all my handyman repairing needs! :D

i didn't vote, becuase i think both have the same high utility factor going for them, each just has thier own place.

Hell yeah! Here in Mississippi we even have some sort of Camoflauge Duck tape in the "Mossy Oak" Pattern. Hell, you can get anything down here in camo! ;)

for car applications, defnintely zip ties. but overall? Duct tape wins hands down. My dad bought himself a "365 days of duct tape" calendar that has a use listed for each day. A new calendar comes out each year, and the uses are all new each year.

BTW, although it's now a joke to call it "Duck Tape," that was the original name for it. It was invented by the folks at 3m because of demand for the armed forces during WWII for a waterproof, extremely strong tape that could be torn by the hand. The result? "Duck" tape (not 3M's official name for it, of course), because the tape kept out water "like water off a ducks back." It was later found to be helpful in patching up one's duct work (which all of us who own a home have done), and "duct" duck tape came into use. Because of it's popularity in that field, people then started calling it duct tape.

But "Duck" is the original word.

I gotta stop this crap.
