some of you guys know from another thread- but just to let the rest of you know also- I am Joe Pampena from Joe P. MBC's-
www.joepmbc.com and I just picked up a MSP for the sole purpose of tweaking it and using it as a guinea pig for making parts such as IC pipes, downpipes, exhaust systems, etc. I will start out with normal "everyone can do them mods"- no $1500 front mounts as the first mod that no one needs or $1500 3.5" exhaust systems that will do you no good at stock boost levels with a stock turbo

.. As I start to play with the car, I'll get some track times and possibly dyno #'s- eeewww I hate dynos- it reminds me of the old Mustang GT days of "dyno proven gains" that by the time you are done with bolt on's- you should have 1000 hp

... If you are tuning a race car they are great, and yes, they do hold some water in designing parts and such, but the #'s mean nothing other than it helps or it doesn't...
First round is going to be MBC (obviously) moving on to a DP with either a test pipe or free flow cat, then mid pipe then rear section- trying to make sure it is even worth replacing the whole exhaust with the dinky turbo the car has- especially to save some of you guys $$$ over buying a complete exhaust with muffler and all if it is not necessary at your mod level.. We will be making the IC pipes with a flange for a real BOV in there somewhere too..
Once that is all done, I will continue to push my car to see what it can do with the stock hardware. After that, we are planning on turbo upgrades, head work, etc.. I want to see if it is true about the con. rods letting go at 225 hp

.. From that point on, it will just keep going. THe front mount will come also, but only when 100% necessary and cost effective.. I am going at this with a "bang for the buck" approach, not a "The Fast and The Furious kicked ass" approach

...
I am known to get a car as quick as possible with the "right parts" and not just throw big $$$ parts at a car because everyone else does. My DSM experience speaks for this approach- 12.9@102 with a catback, test pipe and MBC in an other wise stock, but well "tuned" car

.. That will definitely be an advantage to you guys the way the current Import/Sport Compact market is going- "here- buy this *all* the fast guys have this"

..
I want to do it all in stages to offer you guys various stages. There is no sense in building ourselves a race car only to ignore those of you who want a "quicker than stock" street car..
I'll keep you all posted..
Joe
