I believe many of you must have similar experiences but I'd like to hear some positive solid solutions from you guys.

Ok this is what happen to me yesterday, I was sitting inside my car waiting for my gf on Yonge St. north of Eglinton ave in Toronto. A white bigass domestic car with a NEW YORK plate backed in my front bumper while parallel parking. I got off car, inspected the damage.(paint chipped/crack) I was thinking " Thank god! at least my fiberglass Veilside is still good !"

The passenger, a fat woman in her 40-50 age, got off car and asked me if I can move my car back a bit in a very unfriendly manner.

I said "Ya I would but you just bumped my car".

She said "NO I DID NOT!"

I said " Oh yes you did! I was inside the car and you bumped it!!"
I showed her the damage.

She said" Oh com'on!! you probably got that damage before!!"
I got pissed and I repeated my words.

She said" Call the police! CALL CALL ~!!!!" then she just walked away.
I said " OK I am calling police!"

I know popo WILL NOT give a shiit for this so I got down the license plate number, and consult my insurance company see what they suggest. After 5min. talking on phone. The driver showed up, a coward looking short asssholle in his 40~50 age, who was about to drive his car away. I got off car and walked to him. He then sped up so I ran after his car and hitted his trunk with my hand!! He stopped and gave me a "Wa da FACK?!" gesture. I yelled loud to him saying "You are NOT gonna get away like this !!"

I know that coward admitted his fault and was afraid of me calling police or perhaps doing "sth" to his car so he drove off. But I had a feeling that he was still around since the fat woman did not get on the car with him. Few minutes later, I decided to seek for that coward and I was lucky enough to stop RIGHT behind him at a red light !! so I followed his car and snapped some pix with my phone.

I almost lost my temper that I was about to shoot him if I had a gun!! I know violence will never solve sth like this but I don't seem to find a real solution for this. This is NOT my first time having this happened to me. I remember last time a facking gayass bumped in my front bumper and said to me" it is just a bump! call the police if you want!" I actually did called 911 and guess what!! If no one is dying here, PoPo will still be sipping their coffee.

Many others suggested me to file a Hit and Run to popo but I doubt popo will even bother to run a search since the damage is minor. Besides, I was told that Hit and Run has to be on a highway, and popo will do NOTHING about this cuz it happens everyday.

Chasing him down the street and fvcuking up is definitely not gonna solve anything but will put myself into bigger trouble. But this really sux and if popo cannot protect the innocents, people will start to do something to defence themselve such as carrying a batt, or even a gun. Eventually there will be more shooting and crime just because popo don't care about somthing minor!

What would you guys suggest? Thanks

umm. Wrong section.

I suggest finding a safer place to park.

If the other party isn't in agreement that they are at fault and the police are not involved, there isn't much you can do to recover the cost (or prolly just the deductable). Your insurance company will be able to help you better with this.

hit & run doesnt' have to be on the highway. you can be parked and not in your car. if someone doesn't leave a note it's a hit & run. Depending on your deductable, you might get away with not having it count against your insurance (my 2 hit & runs didn't, but I got hit when I was living & insured in BC still). Call your insurance co and ask them (but don't give them your policy, just ask the general question until you know the answer. that s*** sucks. ... not a great area to be parallel parking if you can't drive a big car though, it's pretty tight up there @ yonge & eg.

should've called the police before moving. the number for the police is not 911, that number is for emergencies. to get your insurance to pay for it (which would then subrogate his insurance, unless you wanted to go through his insurance totally) you have to have a police report stating what happened, without that you've only got his word against yours.

and what is that on your hood? 2 handles?

You only need the police report if the person is not in agreement that he/she is at fault. Some people would rather settle things without going through their insurance company (saves them money). Unless the person is a complete asshole I always give them that option.

true, but it can save you a lot of headache by letting the insurance company figure it out, that is what they're there for after all. especially if the driver is an ass hole from ny

hell if it is too late for a police report just give his insurance the info. my ex got rear ended and the woman that hit her made up some story about another car. the police said this "other car" was at fault and our isurance went after the woman that rear ended my ex and got them to pay all the damage

Its situations like this that make me want to carry a long chain in my trunk. They don't want to play by the rules then while they leave their car unattended you chain the car to a light pole and quitely drive away.

so I consulted both Police and Insurance company and the answer is make sure you fvck their car up b4 they get away next time. This really sounds crazy but there's really nothing I can do. I mentioned the driver has left the scene and questioned about hit and run but popo said this is NOT a hit and run and he said "call your insurance company !!" Insurance company could run a search on the plate but I need to pay deductable in advance and if that coward denies it then they cannot do anything. This is ridiculous cuz who's gonna admit their fault few days later if they meant to run away?? (pissed)
This sux and I've kept my cool pretty much to the limit. I will definitely consider "something else" next time this happens(knock on wood). However, I really apprecite all your help and great info. ;)

Why isn't it considered a hit-and-run? because no one got hurt?

How's your neck btw. I'll bet that whiplash is starting to kick in right about now.
