if you get the standback, you hook it up to your ecu and don't have to send it anywhere. if you're worried about dealer visits, then i would also recommend the pnp harness to make it very easy to disconnect the sb from your vehicle. i don't think they can check at the dealership to see whether or not anything has been hooked up to it.
the sb comes with a switch and a bypass plug. the switch will allow you to switch maps, meaning you can have two maps loaded on the sb. this means you can have a "stock" map as well as a tuned map. or you can tune both of them, one at 16psi on pump fuel, and then one at 124781289 psi and race fuel.
the bypass plug will allow you to completely bypass either map and run off the stock ecu. again, if you're worried about dealer visits, i would recommend sb and pnp.
THEN, on top of that, cpe offers some flashes, which is what you're talking about like the fuel cut and full throttle flash. BOTH of those require you to send your ecu to them.
