Iv got a msp 2003.5 all stock, iv had it since november, its my first car.
i jsut recently got interested in wanting to hook it up with s***, yee cause you kno i want to go fassst. also just registered for this forum.

any suggestions on what to do to it.
like cold air intake an full exhaust i was thinkin. jsut reply back wit suggestions/comments or to talk.

Exhaust over cold air intake anyday. You can always go exhaust and get some kind of engine management like a Unichip and get tuned good. With a good tune, you can probably get around 180+whp. Also, probably some kind of intercooler.

welcome to the forum!

imo, you could save money and get a manual boost controller and boost gauge. and boost it to like 9 or 10psi or go big and get perrin fmic kit. if you want alot of speed quickly dont worry bout cai or exhaust right away.plus the perrin fmic kit i believe gives you a cai or sri, cant remember which one though

i started out small when i got my car last year and got the cai, cause i couldnt afford it the fmic.lol. choice is yours though. if youre not to worried about alot more speed, just take ur time and get the small stuff like cai or sri and exhaust. hard pipes are good too.

keep it stock and save yourself the headache.....

sorry i'm a pessimist right now.

EDIT: as far as actually being helpful, i would recommend making sure certain things are taken care of before you get to actual performance modding. Swap out all the vac lines, or at least the small ones off your intake mani and to your BPV and wastegate, with high quality silicone lines. Get a boost gauge and a WIDEBAND a/f gauge so you can know whats going on with your car. Get some motor mounts. Make sure your wastegate actuator isn't torn. You might also consider welding your LSD since they are ticking time bombs. You could leave it and it could last you till 100,000+ miles, or it could go tomorrow (i'm still having luck, not welded and still working). Right now i'm really wishing someone had suggested i do all this stuff before intake exhuast and whatnot. Once you get to performance modding, exhuast is a great first step. Intake prolly won't add much, but its a bolt on part and most people have one, if only for the extra noise, lol. Then the stock interwarmer has to go, theres plenty of debate on SMIC vs FMIC, do some searching and read up on what would be best for your goals with the car. After that prolly comes some sort of EMS and with that some boost control.... i'm not really gonna voice any opinions on whats best to go with for that, as i currently am trying to figure out what i'm going to do myself when it comes to that.

I agree with what jmv said about replacing all of the vac lines with silicone ones, besides being better, it'll make you engine bay look nicer as well. Depending on the color of you MSP you may be able to get lines that match that. The first performance piece you should get is a full exhaust at least something like the Vibrant, but even better is the GHL full Turbo-back as this is the most free flowing exhaust available off the shelf for the MSP. Skip the CAI unless you want the sound because you won't see any gains from that until you do more work to the car. Welcome to the boards and welcome to the MSP community!

if u go with the exhaust make sure its a full turbo back.def agree with that. although most places its illegal, or in urs and my case livin in nj, it wont pass inspection. but if u already got it passed then dont worry bout it till the next time.

full 3' exhaust will put a real nice smile on your face, then drop it witha good set of springs(Tein, Eibach, ETC)

the only thing about droppin it is that theres more risk of gettin ur bumper scratched especially in jerzey. well at least where i live theres alot of bumps and pot holes.

i would definetly get front and rear motor mounts, boost gauge, fmic(i would recommend to make your own, ie. 2.5" universal piping kit from ebay or w/e, and a quality fmic). I would also read up on moving the maf to the throttle body side if you do the fmic(front mount intercooler btw). Downpipe and exhaust, and suspension. Then think where you want to go with the car, and you can decide what type of engine management you want. I would go in somewhat that order.

whats up with everyone recommending suspension mods? the msp has unbelievable handling stock. why waste money on something already good.

get exhaust before you get cai. always goodto open up the back end of the system first, so that its not a bottleneck when you open up the front end (before the combustion chambers).

thanks guys, you are all a lot of help with explaining to me diffrent choices i could do with this car. i liek reading the suggestions so keep them coming if you have any. and the insurance is pretty high,.. i think atleast. its like 2400 for the year or 2500. around there.

im so down to get a full turbo back exhaust probably be so sickk.
and my car is the same color as yours h8rsnv, silver. yeee

keep in mind the stuff i said about preventative mods, like the vac lines, boost gauge, wideband, and motor mounts. I know it ain't as exciting as a turboback or anything, but its important and i wish i had done all that stuff first, personally.

Since I'm guessing you don't have tons of money to spend, I would agree with the maintenance stuff. Make sure it is reliable (that's a relative term for an MSP). Otherwise, I like the exhaust and SMIC ideas. The LSD welding is a must at some point!!

my god.. my first car was a renault encore Gs 1985....with 14 inch alu wheels..

if i had had an msp as my first car i'd be dead for sure..

theres no need for a wideband, cars stock, dont need that until theres actually tuning involved, for $300 or w/e it costs, it aint needed. As long as you have a good tuner, car aint serious enough to have one. And another thing whats with replacing rubber lines, as long as they look fine, dont replace them, waste of money, please.

Welcome to the forum. Boost gauge is a must have, I'd go full TB exhaust or at least j pipe back, then the FMIC, and some sort of EMS once you got the EMS you need a lot of time to tune.
