What gets me is a multi million dollar company didn't buy madden01-atleast 10 in the first place.

Its their stupidity. However you are pretty screwed. They will throw thier money around and get what they want. However you can be a fool and represent yourself in court! AND that won't coast anything but your time. you will loose but atleast you made them spend thousands in order to get it!
I think you'd still have to pay for court fees after you lose your case though. That could add up...

if he owns the domain, www.madden06.com, they are screwed, they either have to take it like a b**** or they have to pay him what he deems a fair price for usage of the domain.

Lisa said she's "pretty sure you had good intentions to use the domain." That should be good enough to cover you if you put things up now. I strongly suggest you go the Take Two sympathizer route. Once you have established that as the reason to own the domain, be sure not to put anything copywritten up, as they will be after your ass. Maintain that you did not intend to sell it back at a profit, and still do not intend to sell it back at a profit. I don't know if your response to the b**** shot yourself in the foot if this was the course of action you'd like to take.

$1000 is not alot of money, lets get that straight. If I was offered $1000 I'd be giddy as s*** for something silly, but I think you can get more from the company that just paid the NFL to not have any competition. I'm probably one of the few people who prefer ESPN's football game, but even still you should be able to acknowledge EA has built itself a monopoly of the football videogame genre.

I also wonder how cooperative lisa would be to offer give you figures that you can work with, if you were to negotiate with her. Say how much their legal fees would be, or how much they are losing on advertising while the domain is tied up. Once you had those numbers just shave a bit off the top so they can justify paying you the rest.

Good luck, PizzaPocket forever, or another 3 years.

thats called Cybersquatting and if they took you to court they would win.

There is a series of rules for cybersquatting that are hard to prove listed below in this post and i am not cybersquatting.

fine then, tell em to **** off and use your domain madden06 for whatever it was you were going to use it for. because im sure you had a personal site or something planned for madden06 and you didnt just buy it just because.

just put something up on the site so you can say you are using it

if they want it bad enough they will pay for it

im sure they will try the variations on it before making an offer

www.madden2006.com doesnt seem to be taken so they could go with that if they feel your terms are too greedy so dont get too greedy or you will lose out on everything and be sitting there with a useless domain name...unless you actually intend to use it

someone definately snatch up www.madden07-09.com if they arent taken already:)

Dude he totally had intentions, check out his posts. Also it is hard to prove the squatting deal.

I went through 3 pages and i didn see any earnest intentions to run a site. Listen, its not brain surgery. Madden 01 02 03 04 05 were all made by EA, it doesnt takea genius to figure out they will come out with Madden 06 07 08 etc. Seriously, this fight the man bulls*** doesnt work here. But whatever. Im going to buy MazdaVersita.com and stick it to the man!

K i read his intentions now. Yeah, what a load of bulls***. You clearly intended to **** over EA in some way.

go to register.com and try to put them in...they're all taken

sorry, but I don't believe your bulls*** excuse to use the domain name.

Right. The simple fact is there's NO WAY you will keep that domain name if they were to take you to court. The only real question that can't be answered is how bad does EA want it? Like mentioned earlier they may just go with something different like www.madden2006.com or whatever and you'll end up with nothing. Basically what I'd do is say $100 + 5 games isn't enough for that domain name -- either take me to court or pay me more money. If they take you to court, you lose and get nothing. If they don't take you to court but they either pay you more or they say **** it and go with some other domain name. Either way the potential downside of "losing out" on $100 + 5 games is nothing. You have a lot more to gain by standing your ground than you have to lose. But yeah, if they REALLY want the domain they WILL get it and you WILL get nothing in return. I'd be surprised if they really want it that bad though.

Nike had to pay some kid 20 million for the domain www.nike.com when that contract ended up because some kid registered it, get some friggin money! Or at least do this, tell them they are going to have to sponsor your car and purchase you any performance/appearance parts you want, and if you feel like it, you'll put the EA logo on it from time to time!

dude, i would sell it on ebay and send her a link to the auction. Maybe they will pay big bucks in the auction, if not some sucker that isnt fully aware of the legal implications of this and looking to cash in himself will make the investment. either way it will be someone else's problem....

sit on it for a few months until they can ante up some dough. Don't wait to long, keep in mind it only takes EA 4-5 weeks to produce the next madden. A few months come along, they won't care anymore. Take them for what its worth. Legally, they can't do a god damn thing.
