hey i was wonderin wat shifters do u guys think is the best? kartboy, b&w ss, twm n this other kind thats really cheap i think its called j-spec or somethin ill try to find the site on it but which one do u guys think is the best for daily use n if u like it y n if u dont y?

put in the B&M myself, never had a problem, throws reduced ALOT...and im using stock bushing and doesn't feel too notchy for me...

Kartboy is what I have. Its great, no problems, shortest throw...

yea wat shifter does keep the stock shifter i like the looks of it n it matchs the inside and also i thought the B&W u have to modify the heatsink under the car is that true??

All shifters require modification to the heat shield. Very easy thing to do.

I have a B&M and love it. Most cost about the same, but the B&M replaces the whole pivot assembly. I'm pretty sure all the others use the stock plastic bushings, which wear out really quickly.

No, the plastic bushings do not wear out really quickly...Mine are doing just fine in there.

so b&w is the best one to use?? but which shifter will give ut he shortest shift?? which one will let u keep the stock shifter? n also i found this cheap shifter that says it will fit on any 95-03 protege n it fits another car but it can give u up to 50% less shiftin n only for like 50 i think do u guys think its any good?

The MP3 has a different thread and pitch on the knob than the standard Protege.

The Kartboy is supposed to be the shortest throw. But it will not let you keep the stock knob. I think TWM is the only one that has a stick machined for the stock MP3 knob.

I think that I read in another SS thread that you can call Kartboy or B&M when you order a SS to thread it with the correct pitch. I dunno, this is all heresay but I don't see why you couldn't ask them to do that.

I will probably go with the B&M when that time comes around, the throw isn't all that bad right now, but I do miss the uber tight throws.

If you like the throw and want a tighter feel, just buy the Kartboy shifter bushings and the bronzeoil bushings from Cork Sport. All of that will replace the rubber and plastic that makes the shifting feel rubbery and not-so-tight.

yeah i need new bushings, my shifting just feels so tough to shift, its not easy and fast anymore

I may do that....I know what the Kartboy bushings do, but what about the Cork Sport bronzeoil bushings?

There are tow rods that go from the shifter to the tranny. one is a support rod, and the Kartboy bushins go on the tranny end of that rod.

The second rod is the direct link from the shifter into the tranny. The bronzeoil bushings replace the little plastic pieces at the bottom of the shifter where it attaches to the rod and at the other end where the rod attachs to the actuator going into the tranny.
