after 2 mos of being careful, someone still opened their car door today and scraped my driver side front fender, its about an inch long and 1/2 an inch wide, i see no metal, so it's not to deep.

just wondering what kind of wax should i use to try and cover it up some?

i have touch up paint, but suck at putting it on so it would stand out, wax is probably my best bet.

Take it to a professional detailer or body shop and have them use an orbital buffer and professional products on it if you want the best results possible without having it repaired. Wax may conceal it some, but the effects are temporary and you'll find yourself waxing it every two weeks to keep it hidden. If you know what you're doing, you could attempt to buff it out yourself by hand.

you wouldn't happen to know the average ballpark estimate for someone who's keyed a car? it's about 2-3" long. paints gone but no metal will need some touch up paint (can use the bottle mazda sent me!)

they also keyed my taillight housing, fuckers. i wish i would have caught them doing that i love being in power positions (flame)

If you can feel the scratch by running your fingernail across it, it'll need paint. Scratches that deep can't be buffed. Paint and labor rates are so different from place to place anymore that I won't even hazard a guess. Depending on the color, it'll have to be blended into the surrounding panels and the labor goes up a lot in those cases. As far as touch-up paint, it's hit or miss depending on your talents with a fingernail polish brush. :-) I suck at it...I don't even like filling chips with it. Good luck and sorry about the damage. New rule: People Suck.

Touch up is your best friend just noone uses it correctly you need to fill the chip in layers then wet sand it with as fine grit as possible back smooth a nice buff and wax and your done.

I use zaino on mine. Not one swirl or scratch in my paint. I use only Chennel Cotton Wash Mits that i replace every month.

wax wont do anything, BlackCherry06 is right, take it to a detail shop, theyll know wat to do and will make it look 100 times better. it cant be expensive since it will take them no more than 15 minutes ( i detail cars for a living :-) )

wax wont cover up anything.

if you could post picctures i might be able recommend a OTC product to help it

in this case a good detail shop, (or good detailer) can help you....
what you have to do in a case like this is: wet sand the damaged area with 2000 grid paper, "squeege" touch up paint into the scratch (push it in to the actual scratch) let dry, and buff with heavy grid compound, and then a light compound or polish.

it wont make it dissapear compleatly, but it will look good
sometimes im surprised how well it comes out when im done
