Yes, I have an AWD. If it is indeed hydraulic fluid from the rear diff, is it simply replacing the seals? Around how much will the dealership charge for this, parts and labor?
I'll bring it in this week, but I just wanted to know how much it cost from members who already had and fixed this prob, so that I'll know if my dealership is gouging me.
Call me crazy but it looks like that fluid is leaking under that bolt in the rear sub frame, which is rear of the rear diff. Maybe that mount bushing has fluid in it? Gas tank leak?
that's a rear axle shaft seal leaking. There's nothing else there. those bushings are what hold the rear Differential. Swipe it with a finger and smell it.

Yes it was the rear axle seal. Dealer wanted around $500 for parts and labor. So I called the dealership where I bought it (used), since they sold it with a limited power train warranty despite it already being just a few hundred miles over 60K. I wasn't expecting much and was anticipating a run around, but I was surprised when they happily reimbursed me.
Apart from that issue, the Mazda dealership that serviced my CX-9 said that it is now basically in CPO condition.
2007cx9, care to share your experience with this seal?
