What is everyones oil of choice?

That is gear oil for your manual tranmission, it is not an additive, and it is completely different and separate from motor oil(the weight is 75w90 i think , so that would be bad for your engine(boom01))

I know it's for the transmission, I was not sure if it was an additive or not.

1. How many quarts (or whatever the measurement is) of MT90 go into the transmission?

2. How many Quarts of oil go into the engine?

For the transmission, it is right around 3quarts if I remember correctly. You should probably buy 4 quarts to be on the safe side. You drain it completely, then fill until it is overflowing at the fill plug, so the exact amount doesn't matter.

The motor oil capacity is closer to 4 quarts(3.7 or something).

yup, 3.7 for the motor and 2.83 for the tranny. just buy 3 for the tranny and you're set

the viscosity, 10w is thicker oil and is better for older cars and hot weather and 5w is better for colder weather, right? lol

yep. i ran 5w30 when i was living in toronto cuz it was so much colder. 10w30 recommended for cars in warmer climates.

hopefully not fudge brownie mix...

yea....i dunno if its a bad idea or not yet....i plan on changing it by 10k....wonder what it looks like

Redline 10w-30/Royal Purple/Mobil 1
In that order depending on availability with 2 bottles of Seafoam at every other change. 1 through the PCV hoses and 1/2 and 1/2 in the old oil and gas tank.

anybody tried the "performance" Mobil1 full synthetic 15w 50?

Is it 15w50 or 15w50? Anyway, that's what I meant, the one with the red cap. That's what I use for the summer. No issues, don't notice any difference either.

I use Mobile One 0w-40w the broadest range oil there is and it is OEM for a lot of highend turbo'ed cars.

I like it becuase you cannot get anther oil that is 0w to ensure it gets to my engine and turbo as fast as possible at startup and then it maintains a 40w to ensure extra protection while driving!!!

so nobody uses that mobil1 15w 50 ? Ive used it maybe 8 times and I like it, though I notice a lower oil like 5w30 keeps the motor a little quieter at idle, during high rpm driving I think it works well. Ive noticed with 5w30 I burn a bit of oil whenever I am beating on my car, with the 15w 50 it stays on the ---> F. Not sure how good it is for the motor in daily driving though, Im pretty sure its mostly for v8s. Seems to work fine keeping things together at 7K rpm daily. 80,000KMs on my speed.
