What have you done to your protege today, 99-00's only

dammmm yo you gotta make me a how to for that. i mean it is just sooooooo confusing

lol

it actually is i had to take it to a specialty shop to get it done...i tried it myself and it was taking me more than 4hrs to attempt it so I said the hell with it and paid $500 to have it done....lol

so you have 2 oil catch cans am i understanding this correctly

swapped out my 2 center ac vents they were broke

Correct, I run one can for the PCV and one for the vent tubes, i did this since after 2000miles i took the VAF off the intake pipe and it had a good amount of oil on the bottom of the intake pipe. So since putting them inline with the hoses I get about 4oz every 1500miles or so.

I could do that sure, next time I drain it, its messy so idk if I will be able to capture it all, but anyone can pull off their intake pipe and run their finger around the inside and see how much oil gets put back in, or flip open the throttle body and run your finger on the inside of the intake manifold.

The breather filter off my valve cover has been there for 2-3 months and there's no visible oil build up on it...

that's good, but I have Valve cover vents ----> Catch Can --->> Hose to intake so I am not just letting it breathe openly through a filter. and with Valve cover vents ---> Hose to Intake Pipe My intake got filled with oil, now it does not.

Ya, I was just wondering why I'm not getting build up on that breather filter as others do.

lol, I thought the "Protege" thread was ya'lls stomping ground... Gonna be 6 people total in this thread, lol. (2thumbs)

...probably 7, including myself, haha!

There is already a protege thread, its bad enough we have p5, protege and msp threads for the same car but to make a 99-00 thread is just pointless. You have a 3rd gen.

this might actually be a good idea. 2001 was a big year for the Proteg. along with the introduction of the MP3 and Proteg5, 2001 saw all Protegs getting a sharper face lift and a revised suspension, along with the 2.0 L engine being offered almost exclusively across the line (with the exception of the Proteg LX, which still came with the 1.6 L ZM-DE engine offered previously). aftermarket support also became more abundantly available to Proteg owners after 2001, specially for the 2.0 engines.

in light of this, the early '99-'00 3rd generation models languished in the background with little or no support from mazda except for a small dedicated band of followers and owners that stuck with their cars in spite of the dearth of performance parts, offering each other advice and support whenever needed.

idk why it should anyways i mean how its supposed to work is the breather line takes air in from the intake track and which allows the PCV to pull crankcase pressure out via intake manifold vacuum. However, all I know is that I was getting a considerable amount of oil in the intake tube so this was my solution.

Ok, so maybe I have the one crankcase vent that works properly? lol (lol2)

or maybe its supposed to work differently on the KL, i dont know lol

I feel like a lot of people with the FS have the same issue, too. Granted it's usually more from turbo applications so theres oil blow by through the crank case.

ive never had oil build up issues...granted im non-turbo but even when my fp was burning as much oil as bp was dumping in the gulf (thats where most of the oil from the gulf went by the way) i never had oil in my intake pipes.

lucky, i have to say my FP did not have the issue either, but i can sure as hell say I did with my KL now.
