What have you done to your P5 today?

Drove mine to work today, I love this country snowed last week and everyone got scared and put their cars away. Last few days its in the 70*s and its nice enjoying the P5 in the middle of November on summer tires.

I'm also going to pick up some 194 incadescent bulbs to put in the projectors so at the flip of a switch, they'll glow red (rather than LED's which will burn up from the heat)

Oh and i test fit the XB LED halo into the turn signal. I'm digging it (sorry my cam doesn't focus because it's rather bright)

Wiring will be :

XB LED's come on with ignition, stay on with parking lights but shut off when headlights are turned on and SHOULD switchback (off when the turn signal is activated)
CCFL Halos will come on with parking lamps and stay on with low beams
194 incadescent bulbs for demon eyes will be on its own switch

Used the 3M headlight lens restorer. When I went out tonight I thought my high beams were on... (2thumbs)

I need to do this (again). Were you able to get in the corner where the amber running light/turn signal is, or did you just have to leave that hazy? I didn't have any luck with that part the last time I restored my lens.

If you want to do it right. Take your bumper off, remove the headlights, restore the whole thing, then have a shop re-clear the lens

mx-p5, that's going to look great on the wife's car when you're all done. Can't wait to see them mounted up. (2thumbs)

I considered just taking out the headlight to do it, then realized that taking off the headlight requires removing the bumper anyway. Do you think a DIYer could do a reasonably good job with some clear spray paint, dried and then buffed to prevent unevenness?

EDIT: Clear spray paint after the restoration, of course; not instead of it.

I dunno. I don't know anyone who has had good luck with rattle clear. I had my tail lights cleared by a shop after tinting them and they look amazing. The tint didn't get an dark and matte looking like they do over time, I have a great clear coat protecting them, and the are shiny.

That's a good enough reason for me to get them sprayed at a shop, thanks for the answer. I'll add headlight semi-permanent restoration to my list of things to do in my upcoming carstravaganza (on top of timing belt, water pump, 1.8L coil conversion, valve shimming, and maybe sending off the injectors for cleaning).

Have you tried Seafoam on your car? Works wonders!

Also try finding a shop that is already using clear on a project. It takes no time to throw a coat on your tail lights. My local shop did my tails for free

I actually used Seafoam on it about a year or two ago. I did the whole treatment - in the gas tank, in the crankcase before an oil change, and through a vacuum line, and it did make a huge difference in smoothness. I also did it to the family's 1993 Accord - it smoked up the whole neighborhood with the carbon and other s*** that it had collected for a couple of decades.

Right now though I'm trying to track down an interesting problem with the fuel trim (high long-term trim, but I can't find a vacuum leak), and the injectors are the next potential cause I'm trying to eliminate. To me, the price of having the injectors tested, cleaned, and having their filters and seals replaced is worth it just to verify that they aren't the problem.

I put it in the crankcase after an oil change. it prevents moisture buildup and oil separation due to heat. I change my oil every 4k miles. It looks good when it comes out and I honestly think you can safely run 5k miles with treated oil before changing it

I thought Seafoam brakes down oil, that's why most people use it before an oil change. ?

We are both half right...here is from the Seafoam website,

"To clean and quiet the valve train and hydraulic tensioners inside the engine add 1 oz. Sea Foam to each quart of crankcase oil. Sea Foam will slowly re-liquefy the old oil residue that builds up on lifters, hydraulic tensioners preventing them from functioning normally. This process can be done as part of a pre service cleaning by adding the Sea Foam to the oil at least 30 to 100 miles before the next oil change interval. OR it can be done as a preventative maintenance process without changing the oil. You can leave Sea Foam in the oil indefinitely as long as the oil is clean. The addition of a high-detergent oil like Sea Foam may cause the oil to become dirty faster than normal as buildup oil residue and contamination are cleaned. Check the oil at regular intervals and when it gets dirty, change it."

I got rear ended by a Justin Bieber wannabe lastnight, in his daddy's brand new caddy cts.

He jumped out, started talking gangster. I stood there and called the cops. He was telling me how I'm getting a ticket because I stepped on my brakes too "hard". I lit the tail lights on him 3x before that because he was riding literally 1 foot off my rear bumper, not even engaging the brakes but getting a response.

cop showed, told him he was getting a ticket, and told me to go home.

case closed.

now - to get the 3 tiny scratches out of my rear bumper. His front left corner of the bumper popped inside - and cracked around the spot that popped.

My damages - 3 bucks maybe......some elbow grease and a little compound. His - 500-1k for bumper/paint. Karma's a b****, ain't it?

I like the look, except the police here lately have made me remove my vinyl(on my tails), after being applied for over 2 years. I also find it humorous that when he tried to threaten me about how much the ticket for the tails was, he tried to say that I had film on my headlights with my black bezels, and I told him there wasn't anything covering them, and they were completely legal. He checked the marking on it them, and was like, "oh ok, they're DOT approved" I told him it was vinyl on my tails, and when I got home I'd peel it off.
I see idiots cruising around town all the time with PAINTED headlights while running factory halogen bulbs that literally diminishes light output by at least half or more. Don't see how they weren't instantly stopped.

I hate OPD(Ocala Police Dept), they're just cocky, arrogant, and rude. I have been pulled over(for speeding), on other occasions in the past, FHP, nor Marion County Sheriffs informed me that my vehicle was in any violation(mod wise).

ihone, my heart dropped when I read the first sentence. I thought the P6 was gone! Whew! Glad she's okay. You put a lot of work into your P5 to have it smashed by some little thug.

Finally got my Tokico Blues, Tein S-Techs, and MSP rims installed:
