What have you done to your P5 today?

Noob question alert..... What does it take to put RX8 rims on a p5. Friend wants to trade his RX8 rims w/brand new 245/40/18s for my 70% thread mazda3 rims.

pretty sure nothing. I'm dropped 2-3" on springs and I'm fitting 18" wheels no issue. Obviously, if the 18" wheels are on a 35 series tire, there won't be any difference from your stock wheels other than your new wheel width.

dang, I was hoping that extra inch wouldn't make a difference. Didn't think about the rear though. Rear would need rolling

I have RX8 wheels on my P5 with Falken tires 215/35/18....no spacers...eibach pro-kit springs for P5...no rubbing issues inside F/R, outside rear fenders will need some rolling, my mazda mech used weights that sticks near the outer lip in the inside so it does not rub against the rear struts. If you decide to still get the wheels from your friend, you may need to change the tires to 225 width....but may cost you more $$$ to do that unless you can get a good deal to trade in those brand new tires that are installed. I plan to change my current Falkens to 225/35/18 and also look if 225/40/18 tires will fit without rubbing against the rear struts where the springs sit.

It happened to me 3-4 months ago...ran over a rock the size of a softball, bent both rims on the driver side. Went to the dealership right away and had one of their vendors fix and repaint one bent rim but the other one was junk. Bought a brand new wheel (not OEM) for $164.00 s/h included off of ebay. The seller is a wheel fabricator that uses the orig casting of car manufacturers wheels but can not brand them OEM.

nice. ill find one hopefully locally cheap and paint it and then put it on. just been lazy. like how the spacers look on it anyways lol

Wanted to put 3mm spacers on mine, bought the set, my mazda mech said no to it, he mentioned it puts more load on the bearings since the center of the wheels are not inline with the hubs anymore...had no rubbing issues without spacers except the occasional rubbing on the rear fenders when loaded with my 2 teenage kids and during fast/tight turns.

now car has a different bumper

nice! Don't have any pics to post for my P5...but things I changed: RX8 wheels 215/35/18 Falkens, Kenwood BT Media HU, Apline power pak for Polk Audio comps F/R doors, Kicker 500W Mono amp paired with 12" Kicker Comp Sub enclosure, Eiback Pro-kit springs, Injen coldair intake, LED interior lights, LED rear plate lights, HL retro-fit Morimoto H1 ver5 HID projectors 6k bulbs, Honda S2000 antenna and removed roof rack and installed covers. Bought the car new 09/2001, auto trans with moonroof. Also had to get a new motor early last month...water pump seized 4 years ago and happened again in 08/2012, my mech said that the motor is no longer good since it got damaged a bit the first time the water pump seized. Forgot to mention...upgraded to Mazda 6 hatchback rear window wiper.

I'll post some pics when able later this week to share on the thread.

My tires are 225/45... I'm not lowered and I still have no idea if they'll fit or if I'm going to have to sell them!

That's what I meant haha, sell the tires and get diff ones!
I really hope I won't have to!
Everything was going well until this morning when I tried to put the clear coat on the black paint wasn't dry because of the humidity.
Now I have to wait till it dries and restart -_____________________-
