What have you done to your P5 today?

im talking about for the high beams to have 6000k and the lowbeams be 8000k the fogs were going to be 3000k but hidny just notified me and said that they were out of them, so i told them to go with 8000k fogs as well

8k for fogs basically just turns them into driving lights and defeats the purpose of the "fog light"

yeah i realize that the 8000k fogs defeat the purpose, but when you switch to HIDs in the first place if done right you don't need fogs at all other than looks.

what I'm going to do is wire the fogs to come on with the driving lights and have them operate like stock with all the lights are on.

ever drive with HID's in the pouring rain or a really bad snow storm, having yellow fog lights really help in those situations

^What he said

also, all of my HID's are inside of projectors, so no blinding glare.

Hid's in teh stock reflector in fog or rain, you're driving blind, and blinding everyone at the same time

Couldn't be worse than halogens... And why would you blind ppl more in the rain?

much worse than halogens....actually regular halogens are the best in the rain as the dont reflect off the road. Silverstars are crap in the rain and HID's are even worse

This seems to contradict what I've read/heard. 6000k & above sucks in rain, but from what I've understood, 5000k & below does just fine; 3000k being the best. At least as good as halogens, anyways. Idk, I have never had HIDs so I don't have first-hand experience. I will find out this summer, I guess...

3000K is pretty decent in the rain, thats what i have for headlights
but he's right about the glare part, to oncoming traffic its like the sun lol they see your lights and the light reflecting off the road so its super bright

i have run both stock infiniti and BMW ballast/bulbs in my msp with stock housings and had the same problem i actually had to put on a crappy set of fogs to help in the rain

Can't wait to see how those HID high beams turn out... bad idea.

Basically let me explain how it works. Turn on your HID low beams. You notice how they start out really dim and then after about 30 seconds get to full brightness? That's because HID's require a warm-up period. Why would you want to wait for that on high beams? Most people only have them on for 30 seconds at a time MAX and then you've gotta turn them off again. Powering them up and off will drastically shorten the life of the bulbs and ballasts you're using for the high beam, that's why I never suggest HID high beams. I offer bi-xenon projectors, in which the cutoff shield in the projector flips down to fully open up, creating your brights.

If you have an sedan and you buy a hi/low kit it's different. They come with bulbs that have a little halogen portion that is your high beam, unlike the P5 which has separate bulbs.

Ordered 8000k Low Beams and 3000k Hi Beams from hidny.com (just the basic $50 kit that I had on my pontiac that worked well).

Reading Comprehension is Fun!

Why you trying to confuse me? lol It would be nice to be able to "flash" ppl if/when the need arises. But honestly, I will probly just save the $$ and skip the hi-beam.

later on when it gets to the summer rains here (if there actually is ever any this year) i'll just switch out the bulbs with something a bit better and get a slim ballast for it, but right now i'll stick with what i ordered
