What have you done to your P5 today?

I finished painting my valve cover. It came out pretty well, I think.

I used Rustoleum high heat engine paint from Autozone for $6. I cleaned it up a bit with a wire brush, blew it off really well with the air hose, wiped everything down really well with rubbing alcohol and used about 3/4 of the can of paint. Let it dry over night. All the masking took most of the time and I didn't want to remove the cover and spend $45 on a new VC gasket, so that's why I left it on the head.

you dont have to buy new valve cover gaskets when u remove it lol, its suggested but chances are if it wasnt leaking before, it wont leak when u put it back on

looks nice though, should flatten out a bit more from the heat

Well I'm the kind of guy that always replaces gaskets when I work on something. Mostly for a piece of mind. But I hope it flattens out with heat too, it's semi-gloss so we'll see.

And ya always gotta one-up me, huh, Matt? Turkey. heh-heh, looks good, man. My room mate has a Mazdaspeed engine cover just hanging on the wall in the garage that I debate about buying from him. But then I'll need the brackets to mount it. Free mods are the best.

there is actually a MSP VC for sale right now on here, so if u buy that, you can paint it, buy a new gasket AND use the cover
that would be super clean

What brackets do they use? Lol I have had my MP3 cover sitting in my parents garage for about 3 years. 1 more thing I've gotta take off when I want to work on something. I don't recall taking off brackets tho... I'm sure I have them sitting somewhere.

the msp and mp3 valve covers are a lil diff. they have 4 spots where you can screw a nut on to mount the plastic cover. ive never seen these brackets myself but i keep reading about them

I think I'll just keep my valve cover this way for a while. Maybe if I find an inespensive MSP vc, I'll buy it, plus the new gasket and paint it, then buy the MSP cover from my room mate. But all that seams like a step backwards since I just painted my OEM vc. heh-heh. And I thought I saw DG made brackets that mount the MSP/MP3 covers to P5 valve covers?

no clue. i took my plastic cover off so its easier to see leaks and what not. just in case. plus i painted it a pretty bronze heheheh

yea, they sell them on DG's website, and on AWR's website
i guess you could just buy brackets, that would prob be cheaper lol

MY msp engine cover just sits ontop of the valve cover...it doesnt go anywhere...

I installed my 5mm spacers all around today and test fitted one of the FD wheels. The front is good but on the rear I have maybe only a fingers worth of clearance between the backside of the wheel and the strut. The spacers gave me just enough clearance so it should be interesting to see how it looks come mounting time in 2 weeks or so.

With the RX-8's I can not use the crimp on weights on the inside cause they hit the rear strut when the wheel rotates. The clearance is less than an 1/16th of an inch. You should be good.

Yeah I know I can't run hammer on weights with these either, just gonna run sticky weights on the inside of the wheel.

Installed some Anco Contour 24" and 21" inch wiper blades today. Much better than the stock 21" and 19" sizes.

24 & 21 huh? I use 22 & 19... The 24 seems like it would be off the windshield. They don't rub at all or anything?

But it isn't bolted down to anything?
