What have you done to your P5 today?

I drove around to get beer and got in a p5 sandwich!

There was another black one in front of me, and a lazer blue one behind me.

Too bad they were both old folks who could care less about their cars, or the mazda fanatic between them. :(

oh, and domo wants a wash

haha yea I had similar damage from the previous owner to the weather stripping on the inside of the driver door. They must have locked the keys in the car and tried to stick a coat hanger in there lol

lol I do the same in parking lots, go and park between mazdas and/or P5s. And try to follow other P5s on the road. My girlfriend thinks i'm nuts.

Got the gauge rings I ordered today, but it will be a bit before I get them fitted, I am just recovering from reconstuctive surgery to my knee, Man I did not think I was gonna be in this much freakin pain,

Pat.

Sneaky White Paint

Wash/polish/sealed 'er.

Luckily, being white, it hides scratches and swirls, (even dirt, which to me seems counter intuitive) pretty well.

Well, the other day I washed 'er (using my new foamgun---theres no denying the fun, but it does indeed seem wasteful compared to ONR wash, or even a regular bucket wash).

Had garage access, and a weekend off, so I pulled her in and let sleep inside for once. She was nice and clean, I was happy.

Well, I had a wild hair, and thought to myself "maybe i'll just do a test pass with some mild polish, it's been 2 years since I polished er out" (was wearing Werkstatt AJT)

So, I taped it off a racing streak along the hood, Polished with blue pad + poorboys world ssr 2.0, one pass, wiped it down and. . . ..

Didn't seem that improved. So, I stepped up to a green pad with same polish. (thinking the slight swirl I saw under the light my buff out- it didn't, but i didn't try too hard). Anyhow, I wipe it all down, pull her out into the sunlight, Didnt seem all that improved...figured I'd just put down more protection and call it a day.

That's until, I pulled off the blue painters tape. As I peeled it off, it looked like it was leaving this residue behind...wtf? Only, the 'residue' matched the rest of the car! With the painters tape removed, I now had this gleaming white racing stripe down the hood!

So I taped off two more squares, smaller this time, to decide if I wanted Blue pad + SSR 2.0 or Green and SSR 2.0 on the rest of the car. I ended up doing the using the less aggressive pad/polish combo.

Bottom line: the car looked nice and white to me before polish. But after the polish, there was no comparison.

Tried to catch the effect in the photos. Two shots half and half of the hood, two shots of the afters, sealed with 2 coats of AJT.

I guess white paint does hide it's flaws pretty damn well.

Today I experienced the first real problem since I installed the turbo last summer. I'm running pig rich and the car won't build boost at all! When it climbs close to boost, the car stumbles and falls flat on it's face. I think I know what the problem is and presumably know how to fix. Wish me luck!

Hey magnum....have you ever experienced stumbling at boost problems?
I actually just read your post and was wondering what could cause your problems. Definitely sounds like something is wrong with the fuel/air metering system. Unfortunately that leaves the primary O2 sensor, MAF and a list of other items that could be the problem. What kind of air/fuel ratios are you seeing at idle, cruise, WOT, etc?

LET ME KNOW!!! LOL! I just recently ran into a bunch of computer trouble so I really don't need to be buying an engine right now!

I will...I was in school all day today, so I am heading to the dealership tommorrow to see if we can't figure something out...as soon as I know the direction I am going, I will be getting it done pretty quickly...

Completed a transformation yesterday. Will have pics later. Lets just say it has more power and rocking the fastest color alive: sunlight silver

Does it idle? Blown coupler, bad wga. Does it just fall on it's face when it gets into boost or does it just not excellerate at all even in vac? Any cel? What about afr's out of boost?
