What have you done to your P5 today?

Max in az is 75mph on the freeway. 20 over the posted or 86 mph is criminal speed.

Montana had areas with out a speed limit but I heard that was changing.

I heard the same. My grandfather found out that the cruise control in his Caddy Deville (2002) worked at 125 while driving thru Montana.

I would have been screwed back in 2000. I had my license for about 8 months when I got nabbed for doing 83 in a 55. In all honesty, I didn't know I was going that fast. I was used to driving my 83 Rabbit diesel with 285k miles on it. 55 hp meant that you almost went wide open to do 60. I was driving my dad's Civic at the time and the speed crept up on me. I got lucky on that one though. School and work driving privileges only for 56 days and a total fine (including court costs) of $125.

LoL...speed limits are merley suggestions...you could argue that in court...pry wouldn't win though...

I got picked up on I-76 going 73 in a 65 last summer. I took that one to court. As soon as the judge saw it he said "That could have easily been speedometer error. I hate when those Stateys do this and waste our time."

got my car working again. 3/5 of the stainless lines are installed, the other two will have to wait until I have time next week to get to a shop to cut my hardlines, replace the connector, re-flare the lines, and install the other two stainless lines (good thing goodridge makes their lines 3/4 of an inch longer than stock!

What happened, you break the connectors or something?

Just goig to get home and put some Silverstars in there. One of my stockers blew....again. So hoping these will last for a while.

silver stars will last about 6 months in a protege. I've gone through quite a few sets before going HID.

The silverstars in my 4X4 dodge have lasted for years with tons of off roading and hunting but not int he P5.

Yeah I was going to get the HID withink a month or two so it shouldnt be a problem. I just need some decent bulbs for the time being. What kind of HID kit do you have if you dont mind me asking?

In my truck, 3.5 years.. in protege, 3-6 months. I think H7 bulbs must just burn really hot due to the tiny capsule size but very high light output (for a halogen) so any slight imperfection in the glass or any tiny contamination of said glass ruins it.

help please!

ok, i need help from people... bill, patrick, chris, josh, mark, allen and anyone else, i'm looking your way guys... sorry for the long post, just wanted to make sure no detail was missed.

i bought brand new, from factory headlights for morrigan and installed them just before parking her (outside) for the winter. she was parked for about 5 months, then after i sold the 626, i started driving her again - this was the end of march.

she was dirty (yay winter :p) so i washed her a few times over the next few weeks before taking her in to have the clutch changed. didn't notice anything wrong with the headlights. about a week or so after having the new clutch installed, i took her into a local shop to have them put the clear 3m-type film on the headlights (what good are new headlights if you don't protect them from rock chips?).

the day i took her in for this, it was about -10C (about 15F is my guess) but it was dry out. the shop bay was quite humid but not all that warm - probably around 10-15C (mid to high 60's i think). i popped my hood thinking we were going to start right in on the headlights, but we ended up hosing down the car first. no biggie. i went to dry off the headlights and noticed that the passenger side headlight was foggy inside the lense all the way from the inner corner out to the edge of the hi-beam housing. wtf?? (rant)

i had the dealership order a new headlight under warranty (flawed seal from factory) and they want to split the charge on installing the new headlight - $90 out of my pocket since they did not originally install the lights and i don't have time/a place to install it on my own readily. plus, they don't want to let me have both headlights at once as they have to 'inspect' the faulty headlight. whatever.

since the incident at the shop (a few weeks ago), we've had both dry and wet/humid weather - very wet snow and even a little rain - and i have washed my car since and i haven't noticed ANY fogging inside the headlight. i even washed the car today (nice day, but still the wash bays get humid) both with the hood down and popped, trying to simulate how we washed it that day and no condensation.

i'm at my wit's end here. i really, REALLY don't want to
- pay the dealership for something i technically can easily do on my own;
- have them work on my car when i can't be there (i know NONE of the people in the service dept, and have never had anyone there work on my car before)
- since i can't replicate the problem, i don't know if i want to go through the first two points if i don't really need to
- buuuut if there truly is a faulty seal, i want it 'fixed' under warranty and not have it come back to bite me in the ass later on, you know?

what should i do? leave the headlight as is and not have it swapped? or pay the dealershit to change it over for me (even the thought of having them touch my car gives me the willies)...

tia :)

okay, so you can keep the one you have...no condensation since that first incident, or you can have the new one installed and pay $90....well if you don't have the time and or place to do this (it's really very easy...takes a while..but not hard to do!) then you need to pay them...you don't want to have it happen again and then have to start the ball rolling all over again! mark

First off Andrea, relax.

I hear ya about not wanting to pay the dealership for something you can do your self. ITs a factory light that fogged once. Hmm? IT doesn't take that long to get the headlight off. Too bad you couldn't just pop out your headlight and then go trade it out then reinstall the new one your self.

My right light foggs up too but I'm a redneck and just run with all my lights on and it ususally heats it up to disipate the condensation.

Wish I could be more help.

more like... "what are you doing to your p5 right now".. the answer is driving across NY @ 69mph :p internet access on my old phone was flakey at speed. it's perfect on my treo haha

pardon my brevity, posting while driving. i say keep your headlight and when you have time, caulk the whole seal. the condensation is likely just from it being sorta warm and humid. my new headlight fogged a couple days after i got the car back, hasn't since. i gotta go my knee hurts from steering.. stupid two-thumb keyboard.

cleaned the maf but how the hell do you get the IAT back in? it's the biggest PITA i have found yet.
