What have you done to your P5 today?

quite possibly the most boring racing.. at least it doesn't take all day like nascar ugh
meh. it has about 150wtq, and 260whp, mostly in the low-mid range, great for track racing. but it really isn't all that fast. w/ a quaRTER mile in the mid 14s...that's about what a civic si runs..stock..the 2000 models.they're closer to 15 flat..but you get the point.

for 33k new..ish..i don't think it's at all worth it.

So about those Protege5s...

went out and started mine this morning, really wishing I had plugged in the engine block heater as it was 22F this morning.

My oil pressure holds steady at 80psi until it warms up for a few minutes so I had to just sit there in the freezing cold waiting. Then I had to get out of my ice/snow coated driveway, that was a lotta fun. um wow so Potenza RE750s really aren't too good in the snow haha. I nearly had to be pushed out of the driveway, I ended up needing to use my garage as a runway of sorts to get up to speed to make the hill. I was backing up the hill too, so extra weight on the front end. It's funny, as soon as the potenzas break loose on the ice it's all over, you gotta completely stop.. once they're rolling on the snow/ice dusting they have no traction whatsoever.

Luckily the roads were all clear, just not my driveway...

You think it's turbo related? I guarantee if you had your engine stock w/ an oil pressure gauge you'd see the same thing. You're not going to hurt anything, just don't beat on it when it's cold. This goes for any car.

For the record, my Miata sits right around that pressure when it's cold. Real oil pressure gauge stock ftw!

Yeah but at idle that high? If I were to just give a quick blip of the throttle up to like 2500rpms it hits over 100psi.. that can't be good for the turbo seals. I literally can't move the car at all for a couple minutes, even when it isn't cold outside. I'm just worried about blowing oil seals, not anything else really. If I let the car get low on oil then the pressure doesn't go so high at idle, but then it's even lower when warmed up and doesn't get high enough for me to feel ok spooling ze turbo.

Maybe I should be using a different weight oil.. I'm running 10w30 right now, but according to the claims from Redline, at cold temps it flows better than a conventional oil 5w30.. hmm

well a s2000 would be right up my alley too but its a bit pricier so its off the list. the G35 is the same way. The lowest trim 350Z starts at 27k while the others start at 30-33k so thats a big difference to me. Anyways I need to drive the cars first to see what I like.

So I don't get it. He wouldn't let you get a miata, but a 350Z or M3 is ok?

So if I untighten them a little would that fix the hissing sound or the shaking of the exhaust?......or both? lol. By the way man you stopping by on Saturday for the Columbus meet?

I did forget to mention though that my car has a sedan exhaust on it, so its a little longer. Might that be where the shaking or rattling is coming from?(blah)

if it is comin from where the header meets the midpipe you may want to check that the gasket is getting a good seal. that's the only other thing i can think of off the top of my head. is it a constant hissing?

Mmmm...not really. It comes and goes. But I think it has a pretty good seal. But I did not know that the spring bolts could be a little loose. I thought they had to be pretty tight on there.....

we did my header yesterday and i put mine on pretty tight

i am hoping that i can get the funky marks off my header, we degreased it so idk why it's still gettin spots, its not finger prints though, so maybe its what is supposed to happen?

I never said loose. If they're on tight and the springs are really loaded, you don't get any play in the exhaust. If they're too loose you won't get a good seal

Well you get it for free everytime you go to the grocery store with some retard and his ghetto car.

But Muff I didn't mean loose, just not as tight....but how would you know? cuz when i tried getting them off, I had to use my damn foot to take them off by pushing the socket wrench. And they are no where near that tight because I tightened them without thy footsy. :)
