What have you done to your P5 today?

no snow here...its 84* right now!!! woohoo!!! hopefully my gasket is sittin at mazda so i ca finish my install today... :(

got the header on. the egr pipe was a BIG PIA to get on...had to mess w/ it a lot. there are freakin spots all over the header tho, and i wiped it w/ simple green so i am hoping they go away... :(

another thing, the idle drops like a biatch now...idk why this would affect it at all, but i guess its time to clean the egr valve. it wasnt bad before but now everytime i stop i have to keep my foot on the gas so it stays around 800 or it feels like the car will stall...it sux.

my guess is that the EGR pipe's not on right

idk the nut and everything slid over it so idk. i dont wanna take it off though because it took forever to get it on :-\ it screwed on by hand once we got it to line up. we reset the ECU too so idk if that would cause it or not.

+1. When I had intake 'issues' my miata's idle was crazy. However, I know for a fact that the protege can run w/o the maf connected because of a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. I wonder if that only works when the MAF's not connected.... because if they worked in tandem, the MAP should make corrections for any leaks downstream of the MAF... but if it only worked w/ the MAF disconnected, then it wouldn't.

/end thinking out loud

I don't know man. The EGR valve was a b**** for me also. But I haven't had any problems with the idle at all.....what I am having problems with is now that the harness that connected the downpipe to the block is gone, my exhaust is shaking like hell when I go in reverse and also when I make some turns.....and it just pisses me off to hear that sound. Plus I think I might have a small air leak because I hear a whistle when I step on the gas. But I will tell you one thing....I can definately fell the power difference. :)

installed AWR deep sump oil pan, changed the oil and filters (11 months and 15,000 miles on the previous oil change) put bigger filters on the bypass so total oil capacity is now 7 qts!! hope fully with oil analysis I'll be able to go longer on this oil change

the intake whistles.... got an sri?

Its not the intake, it sounds like it is coming from under the car. I'm not sure if its from where the spring bolts are connecting....I might have to get under the car to check it out again. But any idea how to fix the exhaust shaking?

spring bolts too tight maybe? there should be some play, that's what they're there for since we have no flex pipe.
